Painting Challenge: Hobbits!

Welcome to the September Painting Challenge. This months subject is Hobbits.

Your entry should be a single miniature and the model must be a Hobbit, whether it be Frodo, Pippin, Bilbo, Farmer Maggot or an unnamed militia.

1. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

2. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of October 6th 2017. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 4 photos of your completed entries please, this allows you to show your miniatures off from front, back and each side which is more than enough. If you would like to compile more than four pictures into one file it is ok to do that.

3. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.

4. With the introduction of The League Winners from the previous month are now eligible to enter and win consecutive challenges without penalty.

Good luck! Second Breakfast for the winner on me!

Very fine job on the little fella indeed, great rust effects. Will see if I manage an entry for this month; painting the small ones doesn't tend to take too long.

Due to the delay in it being posted, you've an extra week to enter at the start of October too.

:)

Nice job on Merry, I like your hilighting on the cape and armour. Good job on the eyes too; gives him so much character!

Lovely entries!

I've never seen the orc armour hobbits painted so that's a nice change for me.

In imgur, if you do the get share links from the arrow down menu, copy the BBC code (forums) and paste into your post, the pictures will be in the post with no further editing needing to be done.

Nicely done on your painting!

Not too late :)

I'll get the voting thread up shortly, along with October's thread.

Hey, is there gonna be a vote soon? Maybe for next months challenge we could just start it early and have a month and a half. So it could be something big like a monster or warband or something like that? Then we could get back on track with the timings? Just my thoughts, anyone agree?

So as the Hobby Challenges have been resumed with the new spur of enthusiasm from the latest edition and that for whatever reason this one never got a vote, I motion that myself, joshuar_au and slinky are all winners here!

...if not in points at least in spirit! :frodo: :merry: :merry:
