It's here now, sorry. I was trying to work out pts value, having trouble with the Ballista. Here they are:

Dain Ironfoot 180pts
RACE TYPE M F S D A R C Mt
Dwarf Hero – 6 - - - 4 7 4 Epic Hero Single Model
Epic Actions:
Epic Strike, Epic Rage, Epic Rampage
Special Rules:
Inspiring Leader (Dwarves), Terror, Orcbane, Fiery Temper, Head-butt
Fiery Temper: If Dain slays a Hero in a Heroic or Epic Duel, then for the duration of the game, Dain must call a Heroic Duel against an enemy Hero of his controlling players choice each time Dain’s formation is in contact with an enemy formation which is or includes a Hero, he must expend Might points to do so.
Head-Butt: If Dain fails to slay an enemy Hero in a Heroic of Epic Duel that he won, he inflicts D3 hits onto the enemy Hero’s formation. This has no effect if the enemy Hero is a Monster.

Iron Hills Kinband 45pts per company (one to six companies)
RACE TYPE M F S D A R C Mt
Dwarf Infantry 5”4/4+ 4 6(8) 8 1 4 –
Dwarf Captain – 5/4+ - - - 2 5 2
Wargear:
Heavy armour, spears (hand weapons) and shields. They may exchange their shield for crossbows (reducing their defence to 6) for free.
Command
The first company purchased is automatically the command company and may have the following options:
Iron Hills Dwarf Captain: 50pts
Iron Hills Banner Bearer: 35pts
Iron Hills Hornblower: 15pts
Special Rules:
Stalwart, Shieldwall
Shieldwall: One companies in a formation of Iron Hills Dwarves are at least two ranks deep, they receive a +1 defence (increasing their defence to 7(9)) if they are engaged in combat at the front and still retain use of their shields. This rule does not apply to formations with crossbows.

Iron Hills Ballista 80pts (one to three companies)
RACE TYPE M F S D A R C Mt
Dwarf Infantry 5” 4/4+ 4 6 3 1 4 –
Wargear:
Hand weapons, heavy armour and a ballista
Ballista:
Range Strength
48” 8
Special Rules:
Stalwart, Artillery, Old Twirly Whirlies
Artillery: The Iron Hills Ballista uses the following table rather than the one from the main rulebook:
1 – 2: Miss. The shot spatters the target with mud but causes no damage.
3 – 5: On target. The target formation suffers D6 Strength 8 hits.
6+: Lucky strike: The target formation suffers D6+4 Strength 8 hits.
Old Twirly Whirlies: The Iron Hills Ballista is always treated as having called a Heroic Shoot. Any formation which suffered a hit from an Iron Hills Ballista (note: this does not apply to Misses), must roll one D6 per company to find out if it can still fire until the end of the turn. On a roll of a 1 – 4 that company is unable to use shooting attacks, on the roll of a 5 – 6, the shooting attack proceeds as normal.

Hi,
If we were still in our "Dark Ages" period, I would go straight ahead, but (unless people actually have bought some of these and want to use them early) I will wait until GW/Forgeworld releases the new rulebook, and then we can have lots of new profiles then. GW will be releasing Ram Riders at some point in the next few moths, so I will wait.

Ballista base same size as Uruk-Hai Ballista.
Defence is UK spelling
When goat cavalry comes out Dain could as mtd go in their warbands, but I will consider it.

I'll check out the pdf and get back to you, looks great so far.

Rare Formation.
One to three companies. This company uses a special base with dimensions of at least 100mm x 80mm.

Sorry for the delay

Maybe you can adapt the articles "The Beacons are lit!" of Mat Ward that give new troops from various fiefdoms of Gondor. White Dwarf #295 Lotr Articles.
Quote:
Mat Ward introduces details for including warriors from the further reaches of the realm of Gondor. For this is the mightiest of Men's kingdoms, whose possessions are located far and wide. There are many people who pay allegiance to the Steward of Gondor, and many warriors who are prepared to rally to the banner of the White City.
Clansmen of Lamedo
Hunters of Anfalas
Bowmen of Morthond
Warriors of Pinnath Gelin
Axemen of Lossarnach
Men-at-arms of Dol Amroth
Warriors of Ringló Vale
Wardens of Pelargir

Definitely worth considering, I did the WHite Dwarf Angmar/Fornost ones, did I post them on here or not? I might as well since I don't have the Hobbit book yet, it'll be interesting to come up with other ideas.

Don't remember. Maybe to the first post it's possible to do a summary.

Example :
War of the Ring - Add-on - An Unexpected Journey (Evil, Good) | PDF
War of the Ring - Add-on - The Desolation of Smaug (Evil, Good) | PDF
War of the Ring - Add-on - The Battle of the Five Armies (The Dwarf Holds only) | PDF

Been peaking at this for some time and finally got off my lazy butt to make an account. You do some great work here and it's a pleasure to see the previously SBG models get some great profiles for the War of the Ring. Out of curiosity, do you think you'll make any Battlehosts for your profiles?

Hey Gothmog, I think you screw up a little when writing the Knights of Rivendell. Here's a comparison vs the High Elf Knights.

Rivendell Knights cost 10 more points then the High Elf Knights.

They have the same Move.

Fight values are the same, except the HEKs have glaives giving them a +1 bonus (RKs only have hand weapons).

The RKs don't have a shoot value despite being automatically equipped with longbows (whoopsie).

Same Strength.

Defense wise they're the same, though RKs can take shields while HEKs can take shields OR get longbows.

Attacks, Resilience and Courage are all the same.

They have the same Command Company options.

And finally, their special rules are identical, except HEKs have Pathfinders (Master) while RKs only have Pathfinders (Mountain).

Another thing I notice is that while the Abrakhan Guard are meant to represent the Abrakhan Merchant Guard (at least according to the Battlehosts book), they are basically just Haradrim Warriors with an increased points cost, limited formation size, the inability to have a Hasharin or Taskmaster, and a limited area in which they can increase their fight and strength by +1. And this is the sole "legendary" formation from The Fallen Realms. I'm thinking a change is in order.

I'd say boost the FV, S, and D of the warriors and king by +1, give them two-handed weapons, and increase the per company PV by +10. And give them the option of taking a Taskmaster and Hasharin. These are supposed to be the best troops that money can buy, let's give them the stats to match that boast. I'd also give the Golden King an extra point of C to make the "Treasures Lain in Hoard" special rule of the Golden Army of Abrakhan
Battlehost more meaningful (it's a 75 point BH, most of those have very potent rules). The only formations that get a boost beyond their commander's courage value are the Half Trolls.

Regarding the High Elves, I'll check over the Rivendell Knights and get back to you. I'm pretty sure the longbows base partially accounts for the discrepancy but I will sort it out fully.

Re Abrakhan Guard, yes we can be safely sure that plans changed from when they were printed and there should be a proper WotR profile for the Guards with the appropriate strength, fight and two-handed weapons. They should have a special rule similar to the Golden King's SBG rule too.
I don't think they should have a Hasharin though, unless it's meant to represent the King's personally hired assassin. But yes they, and many more besides, need an updated profile.

I do have the Hobbit There and Back Again book now as well, so they too will be getting some WotR rules as well.

Yeah, I loved the Abrakhan Guards. They just have such a unique look compared to most man-sized models. As for the Hasharin, he could represent the King's personal assassin, or he could represent someone sent by the Umbar Council to keep an eye on the king because one of the blurbs about him states that he prefers illicit trade with Gondor to war.

Also, great to know that you have that book. I have no clue how to get my hands on one since it's apparently out-of-stock on the Games Workshop website. Still, I have a basic idea of most of the Hobbit sbg profiles with the exception of the Ogres and Berserkers.

Still, between you and Telchar, there is a great supply of houserule profiles to supplement a great basic book and minor expansion (as compared to the SBG which had dozens of books and still didn't get everything they originally planned in LoME).

I personally prefer the WotR to the SBG because the later is more for minor engagements (hence why it's called a skirmish game) while WotR is more appropriate for the massive battles that wage across Middle-Earth.

I really like the WotR as well, the problem is for new people to try to get enough models at today's prices for it.
