No this isn't about shielding. Should you give celeborn a shield? On the one hand defense wood elf points, but loose 2 hands with the elven blade. On the other hand, you get this reversed one less to defense for two hands, what do you think?

Give him a shield. Let his warriors use two hand attack. Celeborn is fight 6. You want to make sure he can use it. And as much fun as it is to pay two handed, celeborn is better if he doesn't suffer from a minus 1 to his duel roll.

Yes Jdizzy001 is correct, heroes in most cases are ment to win combats, hence you take advantage on their higher Fight qualities above standart warriors to do so. It´s very casual for an heroe to go two handed unless in some situations it might deem required (for either he got no defence option and he´ll die anyway, or its just a so critical role that you will decide to gamble your luck and see if it pays off)

In either way, Celeborn it´s one of those heroes you´ll consider getting him higher defence over two handed option for a few reasons.

1 - Celeborn its one of those heroes on high stature and point cost, his field on the role may vary from caster to fighter or simply supporter, he´s an heroe included on the category to be as your army general backbone, he´s ment to stay alive as long as he can and use his ability to max and in order to do that, he need to ensure he can keep up his survivability.

2 - Unlike most Galadhrim, who defence its not as high like the High elves, every tiny little bit of heavier suit to make the wearer even more resilient is always welcome, you´ll thank later when the normal S4 user wounding Celeborn will require actual 6s to wound rather than 5s, doesn´t seem much but its surprisingly effective as that Strength value its what mostly any heroe character class on this game have.

3 - He might not wield the blade as a two handed, but do not underestimate Celeborn, in doing so you just focussed Celeborn on a single role to defend itself at all costs. This means that Celeborn in a fight will even trigger a safer responce for you as he´s using an elven blade to tip benefits on rolls on your favour (as elven blades tip the tie up results slightly towards you vs non elven blade wielders).

This is the things you need to consider when taking Celeborn.

Hope that helps :)
