my Durin's folk list:

600pts
(Warband 1) House of the 35th Hall
Dwarf Captain with shield
Dwarf warrior with shield x4
Dwarf warrior with bow x4
Khazad guard x2
Iron guard x2

(Warband 2) House of the 34th Hall
Dwarf Shieldbearer
Dwarf warrior with shield x4
Dwarf warrior with bow x4
Khazad guard x2
Iron guard x2

(Warband 3) Vault Warden Division
Dwarf King
Either:
Vault warden team x4
Khazad guard x2
Iron guard x2
Or
Vault warden team x6

I have used a smaller force based on this structure, and I was successful, however I was the new guy and they were used to each other's play styles, so it could have been luck.

Shield bearer is same price as captain but has superior courage boost to whole army and better stats ecluding 1 missing might... A bit overpowered, but hey it's dwarfs...

Dwarf king is good, but it has just 2 strikes. Well, it's not that important, for it's relative cheap and good.

This list misses the most overpowered hero called King's champion. It's incredible cheap as it has banner and all in it, superior defence and damage. It's a true pain, and would also thematically fit. But admittably 600-point-list needs some compromises.

A bit bows to negotiate your slow speed... They are good against evil orc armies which seldom have bows. It's about 50/50 if it's useful against humans as bows would be about equal good and dwarfs excel in melee. They would be weak against elves or arnor or maybe something else as your bows would be worse.

Vault Warden Teams seem rly cool, though realistically they might excel in bigger battle or really narrow map. As just a few of these would be easy to go around. But maybe if u spread them so far there would be just and just not space for enemy to walk between, and their control zone would stop enemies, they could work!

I think it looks pretty good for 600pts. Going all vault wardens is risky if your deployment goes wrong but if you know it will be straight line to line and everyone can come in together I think it should be fine. Sure they are probably way you could optimizes it with filth but I think you should give it a few rounds and see what you think first. Then see about adding a banner or tweak the number of vault wardens.

I wouldn't call it overpowered, since it has the same stats as a captain with shield but only one might, no will, no fate, for 5 point less. I got rid of one shieldbearer in one turn, with a transifix and a 2 handed piercing striker hunter orc.

Thanks fellas. The King's Champion is my very next purchase for my dwarves. What is the common army size you all use?

Between 600 and 800pts is the most common range for points matches now I think. Though its been so long since I used dwarves as my regular army I don't remember what I used to play at myself.

I have found my patience for painting the same army wears out around 600pts, so that's the size I go with. My wife is painting easterlings currently, and I plan on returning to finish painting and converting my grey company. Here are the lists right now:

Easterlings:
Warband 1:
Captain with shield on armored horse
Kataphrakt with banner
Kataphrakt x3

Warbands 2 & 3:
Captain with halberd
Warrior with shield x4
Warrior with pike and shield x8

Warband 4:
Captain with bow
Warrior with bow x12

This gives me two pike blocks, roughly a third of the force with bows, and a cavalry contingent. I do not have any dragon knights or amdur, and I rather dislike them from both a fluff and an ascetic perspective. I may acquire a khamul however. I am open to suggestions even if they are the aforementioned units, so let me know.

Bare bones Arnor:
Warbands 1 & 2:
Captain with shield and bow
Rangers of arnor x6
Rangers of arnor with spear x6

Warbands 3,4,5,6
Ranger of the North with horse

Warbands 7,8,9,10
Ranger of the North

Warbands 11 & 12
Ranger of the North with spear

Admittedly, this is a weak list. It was initially designed for 500pts without big heroes, then plussed up. There is room for improvement and I have the minis to do it. Halbarad, elf twins, and Aragorn are all welcome.

Gondor: The White Company
Warband 1:
Faramir with armored horse, heavy armor and shield
Knight with banner
Knight of Minas Tirith x4

Warband 2:
Beregond
Osgiliath veteran with shield x6
Osgiliath veteran with spear x6

Warband 3:
Captain with shield
Osgiliath veteran with shield x6
Osgiliath veteran with spear x6

Warband 4:
Damrod
Ranger of Gondor x12

I rather like this one, runs elite at virtually the same points as common troops in the same configuration.

Please feel free to comment on any of these. If they need complete reworking let me know. Thank you in advance.
