A collectors range makes sense at this time. There is little in the way of complete armies that they can release within the confines of the rights they have. Also because of the costs, small batches of releases would suit the line better and be more affordable.
I do worry that new writing brings new rule sets, a Middle Earth SBG would allow cross over of armies which is a positive. Having all the rules revisited however in light of a specialist range could alter the rules again, perhaps even following a smaller skirmish game than it is now with even more hero focus (to sell newer hero models that may not have accompanied armies released). So could be great but could be bad to have GW looking at us so sternly.

I would not be surprised at all to hear that Orlando Bloom, Ian, and a new person playing Aragorn was cast to make a bridge film, hunting for Gollum... probably with Elronds sons and of course the love story with Arwen (probably another new casting) cause apparently they have to have love stories in all films. They have hinted at it here and there about not being the last time we see Gandalf, and they definitely planted the seed of Legolas having a story.... and if they wanted to spread it to another trilogy they could do the reclaim of Moria expedition while they are at it... but this is all another topic, but would be good reason for GW to want to newly be interested in keeping the franchise alive a little while longer.

I could see them doing a "Rise of Angmar" trilogy before they do a "Hunt for Gollum". The amount of screentime given to the Witch-King in LotR and the sheer number of times Angmar was mentioned in the Hobbit, it really seems like they are trying to build to that

Something along the lines of,

"Tell me where is Gandalf? For I much desire to make another billion dollar film with him"

I can understand why there's a fair bit of skepticism surrounding this, but I'm pretty excited.

I find myself cautiously optimistic about the future of our game.

The rules set itself is solid, most of the current miniatures range from good to excellent and of course the background is epic. If they could just get the costs under control and prove they are going to continue to support the game, it might just spark some renewed interest (and profit).

I'd be happy if they just keep the game in production long enough for me to complete my collection, but if they could come out with some nice new miniatures I'd be glad to buy them! :-D

This thread has drifted a ways off topic. I am going to post here anyway.Check the new rumors at the usual places. LOTR and the Hobbit are not on the first four list.

http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2015/12/ ... egins.html

My opinion is there will be nothing for Middle Earth anytime soon.

Mordheim

I can see that Mordheim would make the list after the popularity of Frostgrave.

Necromunda

I have a large collection. It may be time to construct some SCI FI terrain.

Blood Bowl

We have a league. I hope they don't mess with the game too much.

Battlefleet Gothic

I have no interest in whatsoever.

Keep in mind the guy who posted that Its the same who posted that critic of insulting lotr game who ruined it all gw.
He don´t even mention lotr cause he hates the game :P

not surprised he didn´t mentioned about it at all...
But then neither he apologize people he offended around his game store that play lotr for what I´ve heard, 2 proud to laid low you know...

Funny is that through all his pessimistic post and lotr hate, gw decided to point their middle finger at him with a big (F,U post review) and moved lotr to specialist game department so it wouldn´t end.. that is what is called on lord of the rings online, getting slapped with a cold fish :P

All I hope is that all the old LotR models become available again so we don't have to pay eBay prices for them! I don't even mind not having anything new (although that would be nice) there's still plenty I didn't buy that I want.

Is this true, or still a rumour?

Right now, having a couple of shades is a better and safer investment than having money in a bank. However, isn't this only a rumor? A whole year has gone by and GW hasn't even completed the Battle of the five armies theme. How can they let a year go by without a Dain Ironfoot? Seriously.

It's not a rumour, against all hope it seems that GW have decided to seriously reinvest in the game. The Product Manager job has closed, they've announced a Throne of Skulls at Warhammer World (there have been no SBG events in 18 months) and promised more Hobbit events to come. I'm not sure why but GW have definitely taken the decision to seriously revitalise the game, I doubt we'll see old OOP models re-released but I would certainly expect there to be new models filling the gaps in the range (particularly around TBOTFA) and perhaps even new versions of some of the older LOTR models.

There's no doubt that it's a very exciting time for the game but I wouldn't look for anything new until next Christmas.

All I really want for Christmas and 2016 from this game is that they make one rulebook to rule them all, and make them all broke because Im sure it will be like $150 plus.....but still....one re vamped rule book. That would be lovely.

Is there someplace that I can follow all of this; or read of any further updates from this new studio? I'm assuming that someone on this forum will keep us informed right? :)

I expect the best place for official news will be the Warhammer news app.

Right now all I know is that the project manager is Adam Troke, and that one of the sculptors is Keith Robertson.

They will have to, they'll be new of course, but they lack characters like Gothmog! So a resurgence will be needed.

The project manager position has been filled according to a reply to an angry email I sent. Remember, about 3-4 years ago, many of GW's old guard left to make warlord games, as did the perries.

I will say this, Lotr will ALWAYS be more expensive, or as expensive as 40K, as they pay not only for the rent of their dying stores, but for the license as well.

The hobbit range IMHO has hit the roof with pricing, it cannot go higher other than with inflation.

The Perries are the Perries, Alan and Mike (I don't remember which way he spells his name so I shall say Mike), could sell their minis at cost price and still make a profit, they are the best, and I fear for who shall continue to sell those ranges, once I am old and withered.

Warlord games sell at industry standard prices, while the perries sell bellow them!

That said, five of 'er Majesties pounds is as much as I will spend on single miniature, although weapon options do increase that.

This had better get better, or I will be looking to take them over.

That said, the dwarves made by the perries, might somehow belong TO the perries, especially if they were made after their last contract expired, or maybe unfinished, which would explain why those ridiculously awesome charitots haven't yet appeared.

Finally, some rumblings of a Re-masted LotR DVD have been heard, in the EE commentary. So GW might be holding off on that promise!

this was postet in a German Facebook group.

http://www.directupload.net/file/d/4284 ... sb_png.htm

The question seems to have been about the status of the sold out sourcebooks, and if there would ever be a reprint.

Translation of the answer of the Mailorder guys:

Thank you for your patience. We asked the responsible department and the answer we got was:

"We have a brand new department caring for The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit products. They have big plans for our Middle Earth Miniature range for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The first step is making the sourcebooks available for people who want/need them. That is only the first step on the journey.

The team is currently working on getting the 5 sourcebooks ready for reprint. They will be available within the next months . for more informations please check our website regularly.

As a Wizard once said, "The board is set, the pieces are moving...." "

We hope this Information is helpful to you and........ bla bla......

Amazing news!! I can't wait for the new support for LOTR!!!!
