While I applaud GW and the amount of detail they put on figures - it sure makes it hard for my tired eyes to paint them.

Even on the old moria goblins - I am tempted to make them wear full boots instead of the strapped on armored greaves.

The first batch of Uruks and Goblins that I ever painted have the greaves and skin and leather and stuff all nicely (for a first time painter) picked out. The last batch of Uruks and Goblins that I just finished have no such detail. I love the amount of detail on heroes, but on dozens of troops it gets old pretty fast.

Hero Blister - yep, those are easier, but doesn't help with the "unwashed masses" I'm dealing with - as Draugluin said - some figures have more detail than others, some you have to guess at what to paint.
Fine Detail Brush - I have been buying better brushes lately
Quality Desk Lamp - actually use two, one for the light and the other as a magnifying glass as well as the light. I find I work better in the morning when my eyes are "fresher"

Agrax Earthshade - actually using Athonian Camoshade - it goes better with the green skin

But as long as I get to tabletop standard I'm happy.

This might help - I have taken to undercoating white instead of black, and then using a thin black or earthshade wash.
All the detail pops right up, and it's easy to know what is what.
