Thinking of getting this. Gone off lotr this year for some reason. Just have a few questions.

Does scenery have a role in the game or is it just out in space? I'd be tempted to make a death Star surface or nar shadaa or something. Is it all in 2D?

Are there still going to be new minis produced now that armada is coming out?

Hi Gene, X Wing is great fun, being playing for about a year now. The asteroids make part of the game as you can crash into them, i don't know about buildings, i guess you could use the same rules. Armada is a complete different rules system (and scale). X Wing is more popular and established with new releases still appearing.

Have seen some pretty terrific Death Star trench boards, but for normal play, a flat 3'x3' board is all you need (or indeed want). Couple of asteroids (not necessarily 3D, as you have to be able to land on top of them) and done.

Armada is indeed a very different game, and not only are several additional waves of X-Wing already in production or design, I'm pretty sure they've got the rights to produce more for the next three films as well (and given the popularity, they'll probably keep it up for a while too).

I think I'll get the starter set anyway. It won't break the bank and is ready to play, so it won't be much of a gamble. Cheers for the tips

We'll see how it works out. This is something I can see myself prioritising
the gaming aspect, whereas lotr was always about the painting for me. I'm extremely busy this summer, but x wing is played locally on Friday night's which is ideal.

X-Wing is fun and is 'plug n' play' really. And who doesn't love the idea of zooming around in a spaceship?

Despite my best efforts at self-discipline, I caved and bought the Rebel Transport on the weekend. It's yet another fantastic model.

I have lost count - now there's a surprise.
Let me put it this way - I bought 4 of the X-Wing games as that is the cheapest way of accumulation TIE's and X-Wings :)

Only got 3, but then again I added a seperate X and TIE to also get those pilots. Besides, I live in two places, and wanted a full set for two players in 1, and another for one player in another house, so needed three sets of templates, damage cards etc. Other than that.. not even going to try and list it. Simply a terrific game, local community is great too. Been to a few tournaments now, very casual and with quite the variety of people. Love the prize support as well, getting some alternative cards just for attending (and with different cards every few months) you never go home empty-handed (and possibly with much more loot, lovely plastic templates and/or shiny tokens).

I've only played a couple of games and I'm hooked.

Anyone else looking forward to the Force Awakens stuff?

Really addictive game, i love it. The new starter set came out last month for the next film, well worth getting even if you have the old one, Armada is good as well
