Hi guys, hope this is the right section to be posting in.

I was just wondering (in your opinion) what would be the best tournament to attend for someone like myself who has a 'little' experience playing the game. An example of things i do know include basic rules, the phases, how to resolve combats etc. (unfamiliar with special rules).

I've actually been on and off with the hobby since the fellowship of the ring models came out way back in the early 2000's; however it was always the hobby side that i was really interested in.

What would be the best tournament to attend for my first one? I wouldn't want to ruin anyone else's experience there by making mistakes, asking too many questions haha. Any help would be much appreciated.

I do follow the GBHL youtube page and was thinking stockport? But that wont be for another year

Josh

The GBHL will be running another Desolation of Stockport on 3rd and 4th October this year. Any of the GBHL tournaments are suitable for a beginner. Great bunch of people who are always willing to talk you through rules etc. Post on the GBHL facebook page about your concerns and see the response you will get.

Hope to see you in Stockport!

Hi

You don't necessarily have to go to a tournament for learning the rules, maybe its better to just find some people to have a few social games with to get a hang of the rules

Yep, I think it's definitely fair to say that at any event you'll not have problems being new. Everyone is really friendly and helpful to new players, and the general feedback from first timers who aren't that familiar with the rules is very positive.

Feel free to fire me a PM to discuss where you might want to attend, and I can be sure there are a few people there looking out for you :).

Just to second what Mertaal has said here, please don't feel worried about being new at a tournament.

The Lotr community is very friendly overall and loves seeing new people at each event. One of the best ways to learn rules and pick up the game is at the tournaments, come along and give it a go, there'll be lots of people there to help you if you need it :)

I don't honestly think any tournament is worse than another for getting into the game. Perhaps pick the next one or the nearest one?
