Apparently the Middlesbrough Goblin Town is for Intro/Demo games ONLY, not general Gaming. :-X

All the GW gt boards are for intros, it's up to each manager to decide on whether they open it for general gaming.

Hes going to hold special supervised events for people to play on it. Unfortunately it'll be on weekdays when I'm working in Gateshead and can't get to Middlesbrough.

When the next film is out in a years time and he replaces it with a new intro board, hes going to put it in the gaming room and allow anyone to play on it.

Amazing Goblin Town.

The one with the GW board is also good but I prefer the scratch built one.
If the comment about not letting the shop owners build staff from things you can salvage then I think GW has lost the meaning of HOBBY but then again I guess these days GW lacks of fantasy.

It turns out that the guy did actually use a great deal of GW kits. The cliff wall at the back, and the base/ground of the whole board were actually made from GW plastic kits and Battle Boards. The walkways obviously are Goblin Town scenery kits and the throne is of course from the EFGT box.

Sadly the only aspect of the board which I now know is definately scratch built is the large rocky outcroppings made from expanding foam. So the guy who made it isn't bucking the trend to the degree it initially appears.

Heck, at least this GW store is allowed to use expanding foam. They've made some other great looking boards in the past. The previous board which they destroyed to make room for this Goblin Town board, was a 40K with an Imperial base set into the side of a huge mountain. Another cool board they once made (different staff member to the GT board) was for Warhammer Fantasy - one of those new plastic Arcane wizard towers, floating in the air on top of a massive (AND I MEAN SO MASSIVE THAT IT WAS CLOSE TO THE ROOF) green vortex made of expanding foam. IIRC it was Skaven themed and the vortex was related to their weird warp crystal thing.

Fun fact: the platform shaped like a basket or claw shape at the right of the first pircture of the Goblin Town board, to the left of the guy in the brown jacket and blue shirt, is actually the same platform that Thorin's company land on after they fell down the chute trap and get captured by goblins.

How many kits did they use to make this?

Wow, some real nice Goblin Town boards!

'My' local GW (Rotterdam) is currently working on a Laketown board, I though you guys might be interested in how it's currently working out:

As you can see there's only two 2' by 2' plates. My expectation is that they're waiting for the rumored Lake Town scenery to fill up the other two plates.

It looks like they have reused some of the Goblin town platforms for part of it - and it works. They need barrels (ha-ha), crates, small boats and other bricabrac and clutter to add to the appearance and provide cover and hiding places.

Goblin town boards upside down, great idea. Now to make them flippable. Great looking board already

That's an awful lot of skulls for middle earth... laketown's goth district? Either way, it looks fantastic, I'd love to play on a board like that.
