OK, I haven't had a chance to read everything yet, but here's a few tidbits that people have been asking about.

40 Goblins in the box set, plus the Dwarves, Gandalf and Bilbo. Radagast is the limited figure. The little scribe Goblin is mentioned specifically as is Grinnah and the Goblin King. The scenery looks amazing, all bedecked with bones and gibbets.
$205 Aussie - OUCH!!!

The rules have been expanded, monster stats tweaked to make them a little more deadly. 7 Heroic actions (up from 3), and special strikes (weapon specific). Character synergy is mentioned a few times in the battle report, offering opportunities for the Dwarves to buddy up for combo attacks.

The fire included with the Trolls gives them an in-game advantage (not named).

The Fellowship plastic box set is the Mines of Moria Fellowship.

There is a bucket load of LotR/Hobbit coverage in the issue as we expected. Well worth picking up.

Be careful about quoting rules/stats in detail in case it gets anyone in trouble. Nice to have confirmation of what is in the box-set.

It's the first digital issue I've bought, and I'm quite impressed with the layout. I do wish you could zoom all images on the digital pages, and that they would include all the 360' animations from the GW website.
Aside from those little niggles, it's a pretty good product and the subscription price is a major saving off the over the counter retail.

Hi, i'm new on the site.

I have to say I am disappointed with the digital White Dwarf.
- First, it's nearly 480 Mo an issue Isn't it just crazy ? Big games on the Ipad are around the same size.
That means if you get 12 issues, it takes around 5 Gig of Space on your Ipad.
And nothing justifies this size, it's just bad encoding and design.

- secondly you cannot zoom the text or change the font size and zoom on most of the images. I am nearly forty, and I find it more and more difficult to read small characters. It's also difficult to leave the pages that display 360 degrees rotating pictures to get to the next page.

Other than this, it's still a digital product and I like this better than the real thing (mainly because its easier to carry around and can be read even at night).

Now I hadn't bought a White Dwarf for ages. I now see this is just a catalog where game designers and sculptors congratule themselves about the good work they have done and how their minis are the best in the world (..or so they think).
Articles about how to make terrain? Nada
New rules or rules explained ? Niet
Anything else ? A tour of GW factory , an inside look at how miniatures are sculpted ? Nope.

So to sum up :
Digital issue : can be improved
Content: can REALLY be improved.

still, exciting stuff for us LoTR intoxicated loonies though

Sure Elven Warrior, I agree.
That's why I bought it.
Very excited about the new relesases, except for the goblins and orc hunters, being in my opinion just poor sculpts compared to the still pictures of their movie counterparts and the size of Thorin (but this can be fixed if needed by cutting the legs half a mm) and of course the insane prices.

I used to keep a subscription to the White Dwarf, but had not purchased one in a long time, due to the increased price and limited LotR content. However, I tried the digital version this month and I must say that I am quite impressed. Is there room for improvement...Of course! However, I like that I can carry the magazines with me for quick reference and inspiration. My only concern is future access. I still leaf through my old WD mags from time to time, and I hope that the magazines will remain available for download. As wargrider mentioned, the file sizes are quite large, so I will have to periodically clear my device. Thankfully, Apple allows you to re-download past purchases for free. My advice, if you are thinking of trying the digital version is to give it a whirl. I quite like it!
