I have recently been thinking about getting back into 40k again but I have heard that the current iteration (Edition 4 or 5 I think) will be replace so I was wondering will the AoBR set change like the Dwarf vs Goblin Warhammer set did to High Elves and Skaven and does anyone know what it will be if they are going to change it?

Also I have a small Space marine army (basically Black reach with some jump troopers) but want to start a space wolves army can I easily convert them with a repaint and the spare bits I'll get from the new sets I will buy. and can Space Wolves use all the units and wargear including vehicle space marines can or not (the question really is are they like space marines with extras or do they replace some of what makes the space marines good with the extras they get)

can they use the new space marine plane thing or not

The starter set is supposedly changing to Dark Angels (also the new paint set), and either Chaos Space Marines or Eldar

Some of the equipment they use is the same, they have all the same vehicles so you shouldn't really have to do many changes, although you may want to use some Space Wolves parts with Space Marine parts so that none of your Space Wolves look to much like an ordinary marine

I believe all Space Marine (including Space Wolves, Blood Angels etc.) armies can use the new Stormtalon, the rules are in this months White Dwarf

The indicators for a new boxset are the paint set (which has Dark Angels, despite AoBR having Ultramarines) and the novel isn't being restocked in stores.

It won't be Chaos Space Marines because 2 power armour armies wouldn't excite people. May as well just put in one set of models and say roll 4s everywhere.

Space Wolves are Space Marines plus some. The AoBR set is difficult to convert, but Space Wolves are quite easy - add wolf tails here and there and paint appropriately.

Too many variables to say. It may be the opponents you played, their lists, your lists, bad luck, bad strategy, a witch's curse, unpainted models etc ;)

space wolves are NOT allowed the new "plane thing" and cant use landspeeder storms or techmarine thunderfire cannons because they have things like wolf riders etc to replace them as the army is very much a close combat one

So they aren't going to stick with Space Marines vs Orks? Dang.

Typically, Space wolves eat other Marine armies for breakfast, that's their main purpose in life. Although each subsequent Marine Codex has something which gives them an edge over the Space Wolves (and other armies of course) especially the Grey Knights which are brutal!

I've also heard strong rumours for Chaos in the new 6th edition box set, as much as I hate the idea. "4's all round"
Eldar would have made for a much more interesting and diverse starter collection, but on the other hand, Chaos do desparately need an update as they were completely nerfed in 5th edition.

I would wait for the new box set and use the Dark Angel sprues to convert your current Space Marines - Dark Angels will be the strongest (loyalist) Marine Codex for a while...

My Black Templars would disagree with you there Chris...... and I know how fond you are of my Twin-Cyclone Tank Hunter Termies. :P

Marine armies are not as different from each other as they are from Tyrannids, Dark Eldar etc, so if you want to get marines just pick the
ones that you think have the coolest models, background and paint schemes.

Yeah, those do blow, but all I need to do is pop Logan Grimnar into my army and you've got two Cyclone Missile Tank Hunter+Preferred Enemy Wolf Guard in your face! Oh, and Logan Grimnar of course!

Black Templars indeed...

The new starter set is available! Limited Edition only at the moment, but standard edition coming soon (not that theres much difference). And yes, it is Dark Angels vs. Chaos =) (or convert the dark angels to normal space marines).
