Hi guys. Anybody know were rules are for retreating. Can armies retreat from danger (not fall back!). If they can how much can they move?

Well if you hadn't mentioned falling back, I would have assumed that's what you meant. If not, and you just mean literally retreating then there aren't any specific rules for that you just move in the Move Phase, but in the other direction, bearing in mind that if you start within 6" of an enemy your movement is halved, and that a company can turn 180 degrees without using any movement, which can be done at any tinme during movement.

As Gothmog said.

You can call a 'Heroic Move' or you can use a series of Heroic Move's to at least protect the formation you're trying to retreat. Aragorn's Epic Journey is quite handy to save a formation aswell.

Not forgetting the odd evil character such as The Mouth of Sauron and Durburz who can call Epic Cowardice to flee from the battle! OR at least to another formation within 12"

Thats great fellas. The reason I asked the question is that on page 21 of the WOTRING rule book it states that cavalry retreat 6" plus D6. any way I will ignore it.
Many thanks for your time and trouble replying fellas.

Yeah that's their Fall Back movement which essentially works the same as charging,

infantry D6+2
monsters D6+4
cavalry D6+6
flying monsters D6+8

Why call it retreat when it actually refers to Fall Back? Well this is just another example of the many poorly writen rules in the WotR book.

As WhiteWizard says, retreating isn't a technical term, it only refer to Fallback.
