Thanks for your advice mate. For the cream cloth, would you just use bleached bone? I will without a doubt being using those swirlies on something soon haha maybe on the bottom of the cream cloth where the trim is. It depends how long these take to paint!

I'll whip out the wash now cheers :D

With the guys having lots of blue on them I'd try and give the white a greyish feel, maybe try a basecoat of codex grey then water down a little fortress grey for highlight then add small amounts of skull white to your watered down fortress grey mix until its pretty much skull white on its own - try to keep your paint consistency quite watery tho to allow a smooth transition. 8)

In response your earlier comment about heros not having war horns, Durin has one, so other heros can definitely have one.

So a light grey as oppose to cream for the tunic? I think that sounds better too. A warm cream colour while representing the sandy dunes of the Langstrand won't look as striking as a grey/white tunic. The wash on the cloak is looking good! I think I may try a darker wash as I didn't like it looking so light. The blue cloth will have subtle highlights on the folds similar to the blue on the Games Workshop Blackroot Vale Achers.

I think his horn causes Terror though. Some heroes have horns which comes with special rules. I personally don't think heroes with special rules for their horns adopt the additional rules for 'warhorns'. Have Games Workshop FAQ this or whether Heroes can actually take a warhorn? Forlong is about the only hero with a horn that doesn't have a special rule. It would make sense giving a horn to a hero as they would have a better chance of survival than a lone warrior, probably best to open a thread and see what everyone else says or see if GW have updated their list of errors.

Mini update! I still haven't finished Golasgil and his Guard. The grey tabbards have been highlighted and washed, the trim and the tree of Minas Tirith have been painted white as has the fur on Golasgils cloak. I'm not looking forward to the facial details so will probably work on the boots, beard and bases first.

I'm hoping to get hold of some of Ebobs fantastic Clansmen and something very special too! One member here will know what I'm talking about

Any feedback appreciated. In particular, the cloaks are bugging me, not sure whether they need a highlight or a darker wash...

Crusader Miniatures
I have completed my Fiefdom Collection (for now), adding the following to the army;
- 2x ANS041 Celtiberian warriors with Swords : £9.60
- 1x ANS042 Celtiberian warrior command : £5.40
- 2x DAI002 Irish Warriors with Javelins & Buckler (8) : £9.00
- 1x NSS102 Wire Spears and Pikes : £5.00

The Irish Warriors are the fishermen, 16 in total to account for all the freed slaves that sailed with the Grey Company to Minas Tirith. There were also about 100 fishermen who travelled with Imrahil to Minas Tirith on the eve of battle. The Celtiberian warriors can be split into 2 groups, those with a round chest plate and those with chainmail. I further separated the chainmail types for the leather skirt decoration on half of them. You can see the leather skirts on half of them in the photos. The round chest plates are going to be my Ringlo Vale warriors. The others will be Lebennin militia/marines.

On the left are Dervorin and the Warriors of the Ringlo carrying the round shields, also note the horn-blower. These guys have a round chest plate, vambraces, leg armour and wear a simple tunic. A mix between the heavily armoured knights of Dol Amroth to the south and the grim hillmen of Lamedon to the north. Note Dervorin has had an arm conversion (Damrods to be precise) and has the wings from a Fountain Court Guard to represent a gift perhaps from Prince Imrahil. On the right are soldiers from Lebennin who carry plain shields cast from WOMT and wear chainmail and a leather tunic.

Lord Hurin (alternative)
Damrods head on Isildurs torso and a WOMT legs. Extra hair has been sculpted.

Also for anyone who missed the Ebob thread, I've added a bunch of Ebob Miniatures to my collection. These are fantastic sculpts and fit nicely alongside the Crusader Miniatures and Games Workshop range. Here are some scale shots

English knights on foot conversions - I have removed all the heads and replaced with WOMT heads. This ties them in with the rest of Gondor. They will be a vivid green to match the description in the books.
Image

Hirluin of the Green Hills mounted. I converted one of Ebobs Rebellion heroes by adding a large helmet to the foot and mounted versions. The helmet is available with the English Knights (mounted) set, you will need two sets as each has 4 different helmet designs.

Also I'm currently working on a Pelennor Fields diorama (which is king of connected to the Southern Fiefdoms). This is for the June Painting competition. I'll be posting WIP updates of that in the following fortnight, so far it's been a delight to paint! It features King Theoden, a loyal soldier of the Mark, an Easterling, a Man of the South, an Orc from the Morgul Vale and the dreaded Witch King! I've converted the 3 plastic warriors and also the Witch King. Some WIP shots of the Pelennor.

Also - the Witch King on fellbeast, tail needs attaching, base detailing and greenstuff to the gaps before painting.

Super jobs!!! Well thought out conversions and stunning modelling work, there Erk.
I have been making my own plans with some BTD , Crusader, Fireforge and several other ranges that I'll be mixing and matchingfor my Fiefdoms armies. But then again you already know that.

I would be grateful to you if you would move my pix from the Suppliers Boards (which is the wrong place for them) over to your page, here. Just to give people something else to think about doing. Thanks Erk, and keep up the great work.....

Wow. Those models really look good next to GW's. Might have to get some of them. Really looking forward to seeing the diorama finished. 8)

I love it when people use miniatures from other ranges.

I can't wait to see these guys painted up.

Excellent work man!
