Hell, if you wanna be dead, that can be arranged...

Anyway, there is no fighting. Any animosity has been settled via the gentlemanly medium of PM'ing.

:-D

Now, as for the usefulness of Vault Wardens, I couldn't really say, seeing as I have 3 and they are still waiting to be built, but I do think GW have dropped the ball with the recent rewrite of the Lothlorien List...

What do I mean?

Well, Lothlorien can ally with Khazad-Dum. That means you can back up your Vault Wardens with Guards of the Galadhrim Court.

Yes, 37 points is pretty steep for 2 Dwarves, and Elf, a big shield, a spear and a pike, but I think it definately makes being an Orc less appealing...

This is where Vault Wardens belong.

If you have a Gaming Board like this, why on earth wouldn't you take Vault Wardens?

Oops. Apologies for the 3 year Thread Necromancy - I found this thread via google.

ed.: just to stay on track 8) VW teams in SBG are scenario specific. Since you can shoot the speardwarf, knowing that you pass your in-the-way, and upon his death you have a dwarf with a big [word deleted] shield...waddling about...

Thats only if the shooter can clearly see the spearman past the shield...shouldn't be too hard to obscure the line of sight.

Hard. Me and my friends that i play with don't let you do stuff like that we say if you want to shoot the spears/pikes behind a shield guy then you have to kill the shield guy first then kill the spears/pikes behind him. We only really do in the way tests for terrain. I also think its pretty bs when you can just get legolas to do his automatic hit shot and just shoot the spears/pikes/Banners behind the shields, and im the only one who uses legolas. But idk thats prob just me and my friends lol we seem to try and make the game as fair as possible with each other and give each other advice on what the should be doing/reminding eachother on our own models rules etc.

plus playing like this leads to real close games it's alot funner for both players if its a close game instead of just one person smashing the other guy without reminding him about anything. Even if i'm the person winning by alot i find it real boring as i think that some stuff im doing is just bs as.

Well, if you can see them, you can shoot them. If you're infront of a VW team, you can't see the spearman.

So 3 vault warden teams are needed to secure the life of one... ;)

I like them. They work well as road blocks vs major heroes or to hide characters from pesky nazgul

Especially if there's a banner behind them. And yes, a Nazgul would have to waste a lot of will to kill them off.

I love my Vault Wardens! So very fun to play with. Marching them in a line towards archers is fun =) Ganging up against heroes, even if you never win a fight you can stay alive for a long time with a shield that big and tie them up.
I don't min/max so don't really know if they're considered worth their points or not, but I just love playing with them!

By 'min/max' which is weird terminology, do you mean powergame? If so, Vault Wardens are not economical at that level, but I can't stand that level myself.

Actually vault wardens can perform at powergamer level but you have to take an ally with extra spears. But tbh most dwarf armies ally in spears anyway or go loads of elites.
