Maybe they think that GW would cut prices on their favorite minis if LOTR wasn't part of the equation.
LotR has the capacity to bring in people from outside the tabletop community - myself included. Having never played 40K or WHFB I don't know definitively but, unless I'm wrong, they really don't have the ability to draw in people who've never played tabletop games before. I certainly wouldn't know they existed without that first TT starter set from my local bookstore.

First time I saw that in one of the books, I felt pretty disappointed. I'd always figured that Morgoth having a small army where each individual was roughly as powerful as the Nine all together was a solid sign of his darkly-powerfull-ness. But, when you think about it, having only 7 makes more sense since the elves were able to keep the whole of Angband locked away for so long. If there were a lot of the flamey guys, there'd be no chance that even the Noldor could just overwhelm them with numbers and awesomeness.

Most of these models aren't bad, and if I were interested in making a display of "all" the balrogs I'd definitely want to add their new one to the collection. But, the fact that everything's Finecast & still costs more than they would've in metal is a major turn off, and a constant reminder that GW bla
bla bla...
Man, I'm tired of GW lending justification to our price complaints. Especially when they do manage to produce some pretty nice models sometimes.
