It might just be that your army list effects the ratio

Grey company 4:1
Mordor 20:1
Goblins 30:1

Monsters count as heroes for these purposes purhaps

games workshop didnt reveal anything today about lotr, they made out nothing is coming next month and that the sourcebooks are only oop because they were not bought anymore- which i don't think is quite true, did say in the summer there is a 40k release if anybody is interested in that? dunno if any of that is old knews though.

My local GW employees know nothing about any releases, they don't refute or confirm any rumours recently.

Assuming it's true, I don't think this is going to "reveal" anything about the Hobbit. It's probably just laying the groundwork for the release when it does come out. I am worried about a revamp of SBG as I think it was a well tuned game system. Hopefully they only touch the army building rules in which case we can still elect to use LoME style. But I'm going to guess if they release a "new" skirmish game it will be a fresh start and have the same version-one problems that currently plague WotR (and anyone else's v1 game systems...not just dumping on GW here).

Hmm I don't know, but I was at a GW today and they said we shouldn't expect anything to be released before the Hobbit, as that would most likely not happen.

I don't expect anything from the hobbit. However I do expect something, to release just a rule book without any supporting figures would be a huge change from recent GW behavior.

I do find it kind of odd that a lot of the "commanders" sets are no longer available ( gondor, isenguard, rohan, elves no longer have stormcaller, galadrim style captains or banner, most of which only came out in 2009), with this rumor of a cut in # and an increase in the price of plastic as well as the rumored changes in a new rulebook.

Something is going on, however I bet we do not find anything out until after the UK GT.

Rumours on warseer suggest that there will be a new SBG rulebook in Feb that combines all the sourcebooks and that it will be released alongside or just after some shiny new miniatures. Let the speculating commence! My guess is that it'll be any dwarf/goblin/wood elf sculpts they've had sitting around before PJ releases images from the films or extra bits for factions that are definitely not in the Hobbit (Rohan/ Evil men etc).

Are you sure that it's THIS february? Not february 2013? Seems more likely considering the release date of the hobbit movie.

Well White Dwarf is out in 8 days. I'd bet that there will be some new LotR stuff in it along with advance orders for several new books.

If they do release anything before the Hobbit comes out, I hope it's the rest of the units in WotR, especially the Dunlending Horsemen, or maybe just rerelease some of the metals in plastic (still really want some Easterling Kataphracts).

I totally agree with you Draugluin, except the things I'm most dying to put into plastic are Mordor Uruk-hai and Khandish Warriors.
