At least the dragon looked good. Its a big model so it should stand the heat better than others.

Lol, chris, the Finecast dragon costs $11 (US) more than the metal dragon!

I too miss metal, but if I were given the option of purchasing a metal or Finecast dragon for the same price, I would go with Finecast; it would be so much easier to assemble and transport. Sorry you didn't get the dragon you wanted, Sacrilege; at least you got one! Enjoy and I can't wait to see it painted up

I would agree also - if they were the same price, but to pay more for plastic just doesn't sit well with me, eBay here we come!

I would dread to see how expensive the Kataphracts would be, if they do the set of 5 like they used to. I really hope they make them into plastic sets instead of finecast. I actually had the Rohan Commanders in my cart when they removed them from the website, so now I'll have to stick with Grimbold and his Helmingas.

Luckily I don't want any of them. I think before the hobbit comes out they are just trying to redo as much metal into finecast as possible. They are lying low before the big releases which I imagine are all working very hard on at the moment.

Most things will be a simple replacement in Finecast - after all, all metals will be Finecast eventually (they just can't do it all at once) and they are focusing heavily on The Hobbit (although, Vampire Counts stuff is out soon).

That being said, I hope and half-expect the Kataphrakts to be a box like the Swan Knights (with command options), but also am not getting my hopes too high.

Don't forget that a lot of times GW will list things as shipping in x number of weeks as well. Happened with the iron guard and the dragon. So I expect those thing no longer available will get rereleased in January.

Kataphrakts were never on my radar at that price. I was looking through old White Dwarfs the other day and saw them for £20 on release rather than £30.75 as they are now. I might buy some if they become a plastic set but I'm expecting finecast. Amdur is a shame because its a nice model but I don't own the rules for him anyway.

Those kataphrakts really need to be plastic. Being a normal troop choice in WoTR makes them ideal for a plastic set, IMHO.
In addition the nazgul will be finecast unless they show kahmul at dol gulder.

There are also a few things that have simply left the web site entirely in recent weeks. Most notably, Ring Wraith foot and mounted. Just gone.

My guess for the price of Kataphrakts is £9.50 for one, and a box set of 5 would be £40, however, snce WOTR, they would most likely be a 6 for £45 or more, though I too wish they were to be in plastic rather than finecast but the chances are next to zero.

Also, with Khamul, if he is in the Hobbit, then they would release the original one in finecast first and then rerelease him with the film like they did with Dain.

There's a reason for that, the foot Ringwraiths are already only available in Finecast, which is why I didn't mentiuon them, Boromir, Gandalf or Theoden,m none of which have anything to do with the above.

GW seems to be cutting back on the variety of it's heros. Theoden now only has the Helms Deep version (which I prefer the Pelenor Fields version) and the one of him on horseback in the Warg Attack vignette (which I think could make a great Hama on horseback).

I noticed this the other day, armoured merry and pippin had been off the site for some while i think? I did think it weird that they were not letting people buy the ohan commanders ect ad they were new releases, now it makes sense that they would be finecast, even them ( the 3 models) will probably be more than £20 as 1ft + 1 mounted are £20... back to Ebay i go :shock:

Another thing to notice about the Rohan stuff: eowyn, erkenbrand and the mounted Rohan royal guard are all on two week delays.

They better not do the mounted Rohan royal guard on finecast!!! They're costly enough at nearly £8 each! I want them to make plastic versions of the mounted and unmounted Rohan Royal Guard, like they did with the Dol Amroth!

No they are not, all three of those are listed as ship within 24 hours. The following models do have 1-2 or 3-4 week delays though:

Castellans of Dol Guldor
Durburz, Goblin King of Moria
Moroa Goblin Captains
Haradrim Horseman Chieftain
Clansmen of Lamedon
Gondor Avenger Bolt Thrower
Elrond, Master of Rivindell
Tom Bombadil and Goldberry

And it now says 6-7weeks for mounted RRG.
But Castellans ship in 24 hours
Axeman of lossarnach are also 8-9 weeks.
Men at arms are 3-4 weeks.
