For my board over in the WIP section I am going to need quite a lot of flock to cover it and buying lots of 15g tubs doesn't seem to be the best way to do it. So my question is this: does anyone know where to get large (400g+ size bags of flock, UK stockiest preferably)?
Cheers,

Cyndra the Grey

I have a rather large bag of static grass and I'm pretty sure I've ordered it from Antenociti: http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com.

I also have the grass bag from GW's terrain set (the one with big bottle of Calthan Brown, quite big bottle of Tausept Ochre and a 2" brush). It was enough to cover 6' * 4' board and I guess most of the stuff is still inside the bag.

Thanks for the reply, I have been looking through the link you posted but they don't seem to say about the quantity you get of the stuff which is annoying. Can you estimate how much you got and which brand please if it isn't too much trouble?

I'm avoiding the GW stuff for the moment because I don't want to spend £25 on flock with other stuff i don't need.

The brand was Javis, I'll try to remember to check the bag size in the evening when I'm at home.

Looks like their web shop has changed a bit. Antenociti has been quick to answer emails so you might get the best answer of the sizes directly from him. He's also a member here, so a PM to the member "Antenociti" might get you more info.

It was Javis Spring Mix. Unfortunately, if the weight of the contents had been printed on the bag, I have apparently cut it away. The physical size of the bag is about 15 cm * 20 cm and I have flocked one 4' * 4' board with it, and used it to give variety for another board as secondary colour. There's still about one fourth of the grass remaining.

That sounds great, thanks for finding that oh for me Valpas. I'll go and search for some now.
Thanks again.

One more question, when you say you flocked a 4'x4' board is that all of it or in patches?
I have just received two bags of the stuff.

I would guess in patches because you don't normally completely cover the board with lose static grass. If your wanting to cover the board use the static grass sheets.

Your guess is correct. :-)

I have flocked a four by four self-made board in patches using the Javis grass bag. I also used it in a couple of hills and there's still quite a lot of it remaining.

The GW terrain bag grass I mentioned earlier was used in the Realm of Battle 6' * 4' board, covering almost all of the ground (i.e. not cliff faces or other rocky stuff) with grass. I used some differently coloured grass in patches to make that ground more interesting.

Ok thanks for the help both of you. I think I will do your RoB method and do it all but with different shades.

Sorry, Cyndra, no pics. At the moment it's buried really deep in the basement storage waiting to be moved to our next apartment. But if you have the Fellowship of the Ring journey book, you'll get a pretty good picture of it. I made the board using the guidelines in that book and the result was very similar.

That's a shame, but I'll try and get hold of the book then. Thanks for all the help and if I could give you a coin, I would.
