When i was in Berlin i was actually going to get some Mahuds. Since they didn´t have them there or home and i am very impatient, i decided to buy some black guard of Barad Dur instead. So here is the army it´s very similar to the Easterling/Mahud army i posted a while back.

Easterling captain 50 pts
14 Easterling warriors with shields 112 pts
8 Easterlings with Spears 80 pts
8 Easterling warriors with bows 64 pts

Black Guard of Barad Dur captain 60 pts
11 Black guards of Barad Dur 132 pts

498 pts

C&C welcome

I like the idea. Though I would swap out a few Easterlings with shield, for some more guys with spears so that you would have support troops.
You could also throw in a black guard drummer, which I hear is quite good and would give you some more speed.

Like this :
Easterling captain w/ shield 55pts
9 Easterling warriors with shields 72 pts
12 Easterlings with Spears and shields 120 pts
8 Easterling warriors with bows 64 pts

Black Guard of Barad Dur captain 60 pts
Black Guard Drummer 45
7 Black guards of Barad Dur 84 pts

39 units, 500 points

I'm just sad about the Mahud :( <jk>

I agree about more spears, not sure about the drummer. Drummers are great, but it seems like a lot to spend on heroes. You could almost upgrade to Amdur for that price (which gives you a bannere) and if your Easterlings are your shield, you should arrive intact, as you have decent bows.

Yeah, Whafrog I think is right, having the uruks sprint miles in front of your easterlings is not ideal...

I would definitely take more spears (as suggested above) – if you aren't set on using all Easterlings some cheap Orc spearmen could easily be used to bolster your line. I wouldn't take a BG Drummer in this force (for reasons mentioned above) and a BG Captain is too expensive for his points in this kind of army - he's only really worth what you pay for him as long as you bring a Nazgul too (BG themselves aren't really worth their points unless you plan on facing tons of D7 forces).

See my idea was to use the black guard as a separate force, kinda like cavalry, which I think would be very good in some scenarrios but then again i have never played with them or against them so i dont know their uses very well.

But I do hold on spears. I think one of the greatest assests of Easterlings is their spears and their Phalanx rule.

They'll drop like flies to archery and 12 BG will not be much more than a stalling force if you don't use them with your easterlings.

You can´t charge with troops using the "ADVANCE" rule, it´s written in the rule... So they really can´t fill the cavalry roll in any way...

Very good point. Maybe they could still try and seize objectives, though.

What about this:

Easterling captain w/ shield 55pts
11 Easterling warriors with shields 88 pts
12 Easterlings with Spears and shields 120 pts
10 Easterling warriors with bows 80 pts

Black Guard of Barad Dur captain 60 pts
8 Black guards of Barad Dur 96 pts

43 units, 499 points

Since i have 10 archers i can volley and i still got a enough spears.

Hmm interesting, but maybe give your bowmen spears...? I know it costs more but it is worth considering. But I do like the appeal of the list... however having ONLY 10 archers means that should one of them die you will be left without volley but I guess it´s better than nothing so try to get your archers into shooting range as fast as possible ;)

In the future try using Khamul and BG cap. as then the Cap. can benefit from his special rule. But do try this only with points starting aprox. from 700

Yeah I like the list. Though I still hold that a drummer could be useful for some scenarios, both to grab objectives and to be more mobile, helping to support troops in key places.

Though I guess you could just you kataphracts for that.
