Mor-galad, I think it's a good list and I play one very similar. As posted above I don't use Banners often but points recovered from that lets you upgrade your Captain to Thranduil as well as adding additional warriors.

Galadriel, Protectress 125
Thranduil 90
2x Wood Elf Sentinels 50
7x Wood Elf w/ Bow 63
9x Wood Elf w/ Spear 72
10x Wood Elf w/ Blade + Daggers 100

500 points even, 28 warriors, 10 bows plus 10 more shots with daggers

As noted, Galadriel's -1 Courage really helps boost the effectiveness of the Sentinels and justifies having 2 of them in the force as well as making Thranduil's special rule more powerful. I've used her War Aspect in many games at 500 points and she is really a fantastic combat leader.

Ok, after some deliberation I have changed my mind a little and am sorry for being so stubborn/grouchy. I'm sure it a good list and I like the fact that Galadriel makes the Sentinels more effective, but spending that much on heroes at hie point level makes me antsy, it seems like you would be heavily outnumbered by just about every opponent you face. Though i guess the lower courage and sentinels helps with that. I guess i will have to try it out with a proxy model and see what its like.

I like the idea of having thranduil in the force too. Hmmm... you guys sure do push a hard bargain.

What about:

Galadriel, Protectress 125
Thranduil 90
2x Wood Elf Sentinels 50
7x Wood Elf w/ Bow and spear 70
12x Wood Elf w/ Spear 96
7x Wood Elf w/ Blade + Daggers 70

30 units, 501 points, 10 bows, 7 daggers

I like the idea of having 12 Spears.

And Galadriel, Protectress + Thranduil & the Circlet of Kings is positively a great combination.

I usually include banners in all my armies b/c the club that I play @ (and virtually all my opponents) have adopted the following modifications to banners:

1. -20 points cost for all characters w/ a banner and;
2. +3" range to all banner effects.

So, when I play with these rule modifications, I add 2 more spear warriors. And it's never a bad thing that have spears following your heros around....

Those rules seem pretty riciculous, no offence. You could give a Dwarf a banner for 10 points whilst being able to give, effectively, all troops within 6" an extra attack to win the fight which will virtually be your whole army. In 1 on 1s with Dwarf warriors, you'll be twice as likely to win the fight which seems a bit silly IMO. Maybe it is a balanced rule and apologies if it is, but it seems too drastic to me.

I like that you have a total of 19 spear in there, counting the bows. The spear not only help support your own troops but using Shielding can really spoil your enemy's day (double dice + high Fight value = long living D3 models :P ).

We're sticklers for "over points" so I'd tweak one of those 10pt models down to an 8 or 9 but most friendly games don't mind if you go over by < 5 points so it really depends on your local group. Just be up front with them that you're over by 1pt before you start.

Yeah if I had to be 500 or under I would just swap one of the elven blade guys or another spear, that way i would be at 499 points and have 20 spears, though only 6 throwing daggers. I might do that anyway, since I like spears, never a bad thing to have more spears :P .

It does give an enormous albeit unbalanced, boost to the banner's effectiveness, but the point is that it makes everybody want to have a banner in their army. All the members are encouraged, not only to have competitive armies, but well painted and table-appealing battles.

Your dwarf warrior w/ banner is 10pts. My elf warrior is 22. Everybody has one so it all equals out.
