Hello people,

I decided that I wanted a new army.
An Isengard army that is.
I had a bunch of uruks, but I traded them al..

A friend of mine wants to play again (after.. 4 or 5 years) and he plays with elves. He wants to trade his uruks against my elves.
I have;
8 Elves with bow
8 Elves with sword
9 elves with spear and shield

He has
Saruman
Uruk captain and banner
Lurtz
Ugluk
9 Uruk swordmen
13 Uruk pikemen
3 Xbow Uruks
3 Berserkers
Some plastic Berserkers and bomb teams.

He want's to trade all the plastic uruks against all my elves.
so around the 25 plastic miniatures for all my elves (9 metals included)
I guess I won't do that, but if I manage to trade all his uruks,
what should I buy next?

I was thinking about a Shaman, 2 blisters of Xbow uruks, an Isengard troll and a box of scouts.

What do you people think?

I wouldnt make that deal seriously 25 plastic uruk-kai ($45nz about) for 9 elves with spear/shield ($75nz) plus more elves. Dude your friend is crazy!!! lol.

If anything he should add in the 3 berzerkers or the 3 crossbowmen, He would still get a better deal but oh well its more fair that way.

Im not sure about getting the isengard troll but everything else seems fine 8)

And on top of that, he should give you one of his heroes as well in order to balance things out, Ugluk would do.

Generaly speaking 1 metal model (is almost)=3 plastics, which means he should be giving you 27 uruks just for the 9 metal elves on their own. So with your metal and plastic elves he should give you in a fair trade:

16 Uruks for 16 (plastic) Elves
9 Uruks for 3 (metal) Elves
3 berserkers and 3 crossbowmen for 6 (metal) Elves

That way at the very least you get 31 Uruks (6 of them being metal) instead of being swindled for 25 plastic Uruks.

For now I have this deal;
16 plastic uruks for 16 plastic elves.
9 metal elves for 3Xbow uruks, 3 berzerkers, captain, banner and Lurtz.

(I already have saruman and Ugluk)

So if we trade, what is the thing to get next,
Ncea said that I shouldn't get the Isengard troll, why not?

I was thinking about 2 blisters of Xbow uruks.

Why the balista? Is the balista that good?

Also, the summarize my questions.

* Why (not) an Uruk-hai troll
* Should I buy the new Two towers journey book (I'm not going to buy miniatures that are not in the big blue book (except maybe, the troll)
* And should I do the trade?

You can get an isengard troll but i just find them wierd.. i have no experience with them what so ever, so you dont have to listen to me but they might just be a waste of points and money thats all.

Hmm.. update, I have another deal that I'm going to take.
1 box of uruk warriors
1 box of uruk engineers (including ladders etc.)
Lurtz, captain, berserker, 4 crossbow uruks and a Balista for 30 euro's.

So that makes a total of;
19 uruk warriors with sword
21 uruk pikeman
2 captains
1 banner
1 Saruman
1 Lurtz
7 crossbow men
4 Berserkers
20 uruk engineers
8 berserkers with torch
1 balista with crew

So, for now that is a pretty large army.
I almost finished painting Saruman, that looks pretty awesome, I'll post some pictures in a new W.I.P. thread.

I don´t think that Lurtz is that usefull he doesn´t have any special rules and almost got the same stats as a captain

+you pay for a shield which only gives him the option for shielding and no defence bonus as he has a bow and the bow is an orc bow which is pretty rubbish.

Shaman would be useful. Ugluk and Vrasku are good. IMO Berserkers are better than feral uruks. Although they are more expensive, D6 is just so much more reliable than D5. Also, I think berserkers are just so cool. :-D

Uhhh... -1 fight for wielding a two-handed weapon is only in WotR. Berserkers also don't have to use two-handed they can use them as hand weapons. Berserkers are also normally twice as hard to kill as ferals which IMO is worth three points.
