Exactly what it says on the tin. I want to make a Gondorian army (SBG) that'll be at least decent against a Fallen Realms player (he plays Easterlings and Haradrim armies).

My army list at the moment:

8 WoMT w/ shields - 64

8 WoMT w/ spears - 64

8 WoMt w/ bows- 64

6 Ithilien Rangers - 48

6 Ithilien Rangers w/ Spears - 54

So that's 294 points spent, and 456 to go. (If that's wrong, blame the calculator). I'm debating on if I should shell out for a really nice hero (Gandalf the White, to be specific) and throw in some elites. Or would it be wiser to bring in some KoMT and a lower-level Hero (Like Boromir and perhaps Faramir).

Any input would be much appreciated.

Doubling (or maybe not quite) those troops would be good. Only problem is, you've gone over the 33% archer limitation, if you swapped the archers for regular warriors you should be fine. Then keep on ,as I said earlier, getting a more of those (actually not double if you want cavalry) and get GtW which is what you specifically wanted, a CoMT and a banner.

Cavalry is going to be highly useful, and I can probably drop those WoMT archers (the Rangers are superior anyways).

My (revised) Army list:

8 WoMT w/ shields - 64

8 WoMT w/ spears - 64

8 WoMt w/shields- 64

6 Ithilien Rangers - 48

6 Ithilien Rangers w/ Spears - 54

5 KoMT - 65

CoG w/ shield - 55

Banner - 32

So, there's 38 to go. That can probably go to :

2 Citadel Guard w/ Spears - 18

2 Citadel Guard - 16

Any problems that you see?

If your using the LoME army building srule then, your army can only "Minas Tirith" list.

1.I would add shields to those WoMts with spears, as they can replace their fallen comrades at the first line should the need occur.

2.Give Knights of Minas Tirith shields, as it makes them much more formidable to kill.

3.You have about 20 pts left over BTW so I would replace the Gondor Captain with "King of men" from the Minas tirith army list, as he way better, also for those 20 pts I would give him, a heavy armor, and a shield, giving him the same defense as the CoG w shield.

Otherwise looks good, though a captain is a little bit weak for 500 pts, You should think about Faramir from Ithilien army list, but then again you will have to ally on KoMT with Beregond.

hope this helpes

No, not using LoME. We're just putting some basic armies together with the mini rulebook.

Well then i would suggest you add in Faramir and/or Damrod/Beregond

as these herose give you a healthy 4 mights, and faramir is one of the best captains if not the best available to the game

and as i noted above, give WoMTs w/spears and KoMTs shields, as then they will survive for much much longer

Completely off topic, but I could completely see Spuds' avatar saying 'didn't he say he was doing 750?'

Ahem. Back on topic. Would it be worth it to drop the Captain and bring in Faramir (Maybe drop a citadel guard for extra points)? I've been looking for an excuse to buy that new Faramir model up for preorder anyways. and perhaps, drop the Banner Carrier and GtW, and go for Boromir w/ Banner of MT?

Not if only 4 of the rangers can shoot. Those would be the ones posed as shooting. Though it is a waste of points to field rangers without letting them use their bows.

I would put Boromir in there some where.

I'm planning on doing so, actually. Would the Banner of MT be a good investment, and drop the banner carrier?

Boromir with the Banner of Minas Tirith is a very good INVESTMENT, but he cost hellawa lot and and thus you get less troops, or you shouldn´t any more herose.

But when Boromir is carring the banner then he is a match even foe a Troll  give him about 3-6 Osgiliath Veterans (keeping them around Boromir) and you will have fv 5 troops up front   8)

So, it would be better to just drop the WoMT archers? They're better at a range anyways.

Mmmmmkay. So: Drop the Captain and Citadel guard, get Faramir, and also get Boromir w/ BoMT. All righty.

16 WoMT w/ Shield - 128

8 WoMT w/ Spear and Shield - 72

6 Ithilien Rangers - 48

6 Ithilien Rangers w/ spears - 54

6 KoMT w/ shields - 84

Boromir, Captain of Gondor, w/ BoMT - 225

Faramir w/ Shield, horse, and Heavy Armor - 90

So, 49 points left over for elites. Probably some Citadel guard or Osgiliath vets.

44 models isn't very much for 700pts... I would say drop faramir which leaves you about 140pts. left. As you already have super-Boromir, I would probably just get a KoMT on horse with shield and lance and get 8 citadel guard or some OVs or even some fountain guard.
