I thought that the 1000th post would be a good opportunity to post a picture of my upgraded workspace :wink:

As you could see in the previous picture,

I don't really have much space on my desk. I wanted to make something that could make painting more convenient and throw away those old boxes in which I kept all my paints. Also, I've recently bought some Vallejo paints and had to keep them in the drawer below the desk, which made painting even less convenient.
I made the shelves yesterday (that is Thursday). As you can see, there is still some space left, but it will be needed as I plan to buy the Foundation Paint Set.
Ok, enough talking, here's how it looks:

Very neat and tidy. I don't have a permanent workspace anymore and that makes me sad. So, I will enjoy this and other lovely workspaces vicariously through the internet.

I would never put my computer on my desk as I'd surely destroy it somehow by spilling a cup of water or some super glue-but clearly you're a lot more organized than me! That looks like a great place to work

How can anyone keep a hobby-desk tidy like that? Do you actually really hobby?
It just wont work for me, whatever I try, the mess always rules over my desk...

Up until a couple of weeks ago I had a bedroom for all of my crafts, etc.. but we have to turn this craftroom into a bedroom for another future addition to our family (my wife and myself are both excited for another kid in a few months time). My temporary craft room consists of a small area within the office. Unfortunately, Barad dur kind of takes up the whole area!! We are planning on building a small addition to our house this fall (wall in a roofed porch for my new craftroom), it will be ~150 square feet or so.

In addition, all of my terrain projects I've been storing in a detached garage, its getting kind of full though. Someday I would like to finish insulating the shop for the colder winter months. I just brought Helm's Deep home from my brothers house. Hopefully I can play a scenario this summer with Helms deep (to be truthful I actually haven't played the game yet, just making terrain and painting minis, I've only played warhammer a few times).

It requires really good planning to keep all those impressive works in one place and have some room left for working. You managed t do that very well

We actually never use the detached garage for our vehicles. I actually use the garage for storing a lot of items that we can't store in our house (single level house, no basement) and it serves as a great home for my terrain. Someday I would like to figure out how to create a multilevel table for storing even more terrain projects in the future. Ideally it would be 6' long by 3'-4' wide with three different levels. I just can't quite figure out how to make one.

Another year, another workspace...
While moving out the paretns house, I thought it was time for a new paintstation, and finally I took some more inspiration of Brian's station...
So here it is, the new one :-)

Now I only need to get the feeling of painting again, but I really feel like it's approaching! (I only learned the word "approaching" since the movies... )

and where are your terrain materials - the shelves are filled with thousands of CDs...!

I really like the drawerboard on the left! thin wood, not taking much space
I bet it contains more minis ... and the brushes...?

@ Beate, the drawerboard (and the rest) is made of 8mm thick multiplex (some parts are 3mm thick), and is filled with terrain-stuff (grasses, flocks, sand, etc...)
The brushes are kept safe with all other tools in the drawer under the paintrack.
The miniatures, unpainted ones, are stored in boxes on a rack behind me (I'll take a piccy if you like). The painted ones are still packed in whisky-tubes to get a safe transport from my parent's house to this new place (my extra-large super luxuary loft... hmm... appartement... :S )
I still need to add some shelves for the painted ones...
All other trash is kept in drawers under the desk and large pieces are in the garage... well, the box with the mess...

@ Brian, lol, but it still looks like that as I haven't been on my desk anymore since I took the picture and uploaded it here...

@ Matt: The mousemat was a present my brother gave me on some X-mas e few years ago. It wa a total surprise actually, I didn't know he had that picture. Since he has a computer buisiness he repairs my computer from all the virusses Brian keeps sending me, and probably he found that picture then...

@TheBucklandBrewerthanks for the deeper insights. and yes, I would love to see some pics of the unpainted minis' shelf(ves) and deeper insights inside the drawers :-)
