Hello everyone! Welcome to the thread for the December Painting Challenge! Rules 1. This month the challenge is to paint anything you like so long as there is a winter theme to the model. This could be anything from Christmas goblins, Santa Gandalf or just a generic miniature with a snowy base. You can be as creative (or non-creative) as you like with the theme. If you are unsure as to whether something will be elligible for entry, just post asking or PM me and I will let you know whether or not you may use it, as this months challenge could be open to many different alternative figures. 2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible. 3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of December 31st, 2014. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 4 photos please, this allows you to show your miniature off from front, back and each side which is more than enough. If you would like to compile more than one pictures into one file it is okay to do that. Please do not submit your entries as an attachment, use an image hosting website such as Photobucket or Imageshack. If you need assistance in doing this please feel free to PM me or another member or staff. 4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills. 5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months. Good luck to all! |

If I find the time during my exams, I'll probably enter a warg chieftain. Still have to fill the gaps with GS and spray him though... |

Here is my entry, dont know if I will finish it in time, but that would be nice of course ! I converted the captain because his clothes do resemble thranduil more than the actual model. Looking through the design books I think Games workshop has an old version of the clothing around the armour. The captain fits its better. Hopefully my painting does do him justice, but I am not that good.. Although the models are very price I have to say its a very good sculpt! and harfoot : Superb Job, I wont top that, but it will like it to add some flacour to the challenge! |

I'm not sure if I can pluck something out in what few days we have. I've been out of the painting world for over two years! We'll see what I have tucked away in the cabinets... |

John wrote: edge67 wrote: Winter is coming..... I dont think I have seen this before? Who makes it? Its from knight miniatures, and if I am not mistaken this one is quite bigger than 28 mm, they also have made 35? mm minis of galadriel, gandalf & bilbo and the quality is super! and fits well with gw mini's although these are more true to scale than gw's. |
