Painting Challenge: HOBBITS!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the thread for the November Painting Challenge! This month it's HOBBIT MONTH.

Rules

1. This month is of course Hobbit month and as a result any hobbit is an eligible entry for this months challenge whether it is a standard hobbit militia, Fredegar Bolger or Bilbo himself.

If you are unsure as to whether something will be eligible for entry, just post asking or PM me and I will let you know whether or not you may use it, as this months challenge could be open to many different alternative figures.

2. To enter the painting challenge, the miniature you are painting must not be painted before starting and picture proof must be shown of the miniature 'pre-painted' (unprimed, undercoated or if you are repainting and old miniature - in its' original paint scheme) otherwise your entry will not be eligible.

3. You may join the painting challenge in progress at any time, but must submit photographs of the completed miniature by midnight GMT of November 30th, 2012. WIP images are welcomed and encouraged. A maximum of 4 photos please, this allows you to show your miniature off from front, back and each side which is more than enough.

4. Miniatures that are completed in time will be eligible to win the challenge. The challenge winner will be decided by the vote of the OR community. The community will choose one winner and one runner-up from the completed miniatures. Votes should be cast not simply on painting skill, but on merit, including creativity, application of painting techniques, artist improvement, etc. There is no prize available for the winners of this challenge, the challenge is solely for community participation and as an incentive for people to reduce their backlog and improve their painting skills.

5. Winners from the previous month are able to participate in the next months painting challenge, but they are not eligible to win in consecutive months.

Good luck to all!

I'm going to bite off more than I can chew, in true hobbit style.

I bought a bunch of hobbits second hand a few years ago, but they haven't seen any paint yet.

There's Fatty, Paladin, Bullroarer (foot and mounted), Farmer Maggot, 4 shirrifs, 12 archers, 16 militia, and a hornblower.

Is it possible to use the same entry in this challenge and the conversion challenge? I noticed that the entry for the conversion/sculpting competition has to be unpainted, so could it (after being entered in that challenge) then be painted and entered into this competition?

I'd like to do the old Bilbo model if that's O.K., but have Sam as a reserve if it's not.

I'm entering Bilbo into the challenge:

@Short Strider: what is that old Bilbo model? Is it those ancient Citadel LotR models from 80s or what? Doesn't look like a Mithril mini to me.

Barks, that's an awesome hobbit horde! I don't think I've ever seen anyone have so many of them.

I finished my Bilbo:

Fantastic hobbits - all the more incredible as they are so small compared to 'full size' 28mm scale minis.
