After all of today's excitement and massive pre-order confirmation for the new Middle-Earth SBG I couldn't help but cast my thoughts back to the chances of a future relaunch of WoTR in the coming years.

A copy of the rulebook was pictured in the designer notes post on Warhammer Community (perhaps it hasn't been forgotten about altogether!) and with the return of infantry sets back to 24 miniatures per box along with the new troop heavy collection boxsets I'm remaining hopeful. Of course they just be could be setting up for plastic recast of new heroes for the new hero/warband rules but who knows for sure!

What do you guys think?

Those two 'hints' both seem reasonable, but otherwise there's been no indication that WotR will get an update (at least as far as I'm aware). From what I've read/heard, Adam Troke and Jay Clare are very much devoted to the SBG rules. That's not to say that they couldn't also share some attention with WotR, but I don't expect to happen in the foreseeable future.

I'd say unlikely. As good as the rules of the game were, the points in WoTR got messed up so badly that it sort of killed the game after the initial interest died down and people figured things out.

Also GW doesn't seem fond of movement trays anymore, so they'd probably be more likely to add some massed combat rules instead, like grouping warbands together and having massed fights like you get in AoS/40k, where hit rolls are determined by the fight value difference instead of contested duel rolls.
