Post subject:  Well, I'm back!

Phew, finally!

I have been up to my eyeballs in Real Life issues (mostly with work) for the past few months, but thankfully they are all behind me now and I've got some time off over the festive season. I'm back now and eager to catch up on all that's been happening here.

So, that means I'll pick up where I left off with the site revamp and am aiming to get the article library back again as soon as possible.

And a heartfelt Season's Greetings to all. For those of you who celebrate it, Merry Christmas! For those who celebrate other things this time of year, I hope you all enjoy yourself and stay safe during the festivities.

Thank Goodness. I feel my personal LotR mojo is somehow directly linked to this site. I haven't done a thing since completing my entry for the summer compy. I don't enjoy going into GW anymore. 1 staff member isn't enough, and there's little variation in stock carried there these days. I hate WotR which is all they seem to be interested in there now. I will always be steadfast SBG. I even toyed with the idea of binning my own little webstore.

However, yesterday out of nowhere, I got the urge to get down some of my dusty mini's, clean them up and put on some basecoat. So there is still yet hope :)

Merry Christmas Alan, and to everyone else.

Ah, Dagorlad is taking on material form again... now, who does that remind me of? Hmmm...
It's like the top of the Misty Mountains here at the moment. I look forward to next week - a few days away from the slave-pits of Barad-dur. I might even get to do some hobby stuff, for the first time in a few months. I must watch the EE DVD's again - I have an upscaling blu-ray playing through an LED TV so the films look fabulous.

:D I am very excited. This is a very good Christmas present indeed.... :yay:
I'll alos echo what ukfb said, I haven't done much hobby-wise in a while, don't know if it's because of the site as I seem to go off and on regardless, but the site being repaired could defnitely give me a boost. 8)

Thanks fellas.

Yes, I know the feeling Dave, the GW stores here are focused solely on WotR too (oh and two other games - I can't remember what they're called). And the game tables all look so uninspired there nowadays.

Gee, it's like someone is inside my brain reading my mind... :) Glad you're back Dagorlad, maybe I'll get some painting done now :-D

Yay, he hath returned to walk amongst the living. :D

Strangely I was driven to check out the site two days ago after having not posted in months. Low and behold it is the same day you returned. What are the chances of that!

I really should put my 40k stuff on hold and go back to painting and modelling my Moria army. And, maybe, I'll finally pick up a Cave Drake and some Balrog Wings to make an awesome Dragon conversion.

Glad to see you back, Alan. I had to take a break for a little while for some "real life" issues as well, but I'm back and looking forward to seeing the One Ring return to and surpass its former glory!

My interest in LotR has been rekindled of late, as my son is now old enough to start playing some of the MoM scenarios. I'm loving it.

I'm currently working on a secret project that I'll share in the very near future.

Post subject:  Re: Well, I'm back!

I have a couple of major projects to get out of the way first, but then I will pick up where I left off with some LOTR terrain pieces (Bag End, Rivendell, and a Moria board for my son). My 'major projects' include organising a gaming convention and writing a 'weird war' game supplement, but they will be out of the way by June so I can move back to doing the stuff I love the most - Middle-earth. I'm really looking forward to it and hope that I can produce some articles out of it too.

I have two weeks off work starting on Friday though and (in between family feasts and social gatherings) I'll be working on the site mostly.

A great big Festive Cheer to everyone!

Post subject:  Re: Well, I'm back!

ukfreddybear speaks for me as well. Since this site has been in limbo stage, I have barely done anything LotR related; I recieved The Breaking of the Fellowship in August for my birthday, and I still have yet to paint Aragorn or Boromir (in other words, in four months I have only painted seven LotR minis). But I have painted other minis, so I'm not completely out of it.

Glad to see you Dagorlad. Merry Christmas, and I know the revamp will be awesome. Thanks!

Wow! What a week! Alan's back in action and Jonathan"s poked his head out of the weeds too, exciting stuff :D
Ditto to all those comments about losing the LOTR mojo, it seems like the butt end of 2010 was a bit hectic for a lot of us, myself included as I got married in October. Now that the ball seems to be rolling here again I'm sure my wife is going to be super excited that I'll be spending every waking hour scouring these forums and breaking out the miniatures again

Great to read this! I do have similar problems, however I hope The One Ring will have a good year 2011. The Hobbit will come, so I hope we will see this page prosper!

Post subject:  Re: Well, I'm back!

The man who inspired me is still around:) I'm also sort of back. I really don't have a lot of time for gaming, or painting, or collecting anymore. Hopefully I can pop in once and awhile to catch up with what you guys are up to. I am still making terrain. Very nearly finished my Minas Tirith (yes I know it has been years). I am currently re-making The Golden Hall as well. Never really liked my first attempt.
Anyhow, good to see some familiar names are still around.
