While considering a post about the Nazgul, I once again posted the meaning of the word "Dwimmerlaik" - its about the fourth time I've written that explanation, and probably the tenth time I've seen it explained by someone here.

So how about a "lore" wiki?

Such a thing could explain the Tolkien background of any new or extant model, note whether the model is a Tolkien creation or a GW invention. Summarise the GW fluff (useful for WOTR players - there's lots of figures in the rule book whose purpose, background or nature is not explained). Explain frequently used terms. Link to useful sites like Tuckborough and the Encyclopedia of Arda. Create a function that allows a poster to hyperlink directly to the wiki.

Include a house rule section, and a house "character" section, too.

Just a thought.

Sounds like a good idea. They need alot more background for the the named Nazgul and stuff like that. Great idea! 8)

THIS might be some help too.

It would be a lot of work to set up. There are at least two well-done Tolkien Wikis out there that I know of and use for reference (one linked above) and there's probably more out there. I imagine a couple of links to those would suffice.

Linking to The Thain's Book and The Encyclopedia of Arda are the logical choice - why reinvent the wheel? And as for listing information on SBG and WotR figures, that hits the copyright barrier, so that would be a NO for legal reasons.
Other references can be gained from framecaplib and the oodles of book (you know, those environmentally friendly things made of recyclable paper that do not need electricity to read them... oh, the youth of today  )

I keep losing my threads here, but yes, I like this.

Links to the WIKIA might be a good idea, with maybe something to designate One Ring related content.
