Chatroom Protocol

This site and the chatroom have been running for quite some years now, and we have hardly had any incidents.
Lately, we have had a couple of incidents in the chatroom, that simply come down to a petty indifference of oppinons, immature banter.

I would just like to state a policy that I would like all Chat room visitors to adhere too...

If a member annoys you in anyway, or you think you are being abused in anyway, please do not retaliate in any shape or form, choose one of the following options...
01. Ignore them and carry on chatting to other members in the room.
02. Leave chat.

These options only apply when there is no Moderator in the room.
In all cases, if you have an issue with what has been said, please copy & Paste the conversation and either email or PM the content to myself or Alan (Dagorlad).

The chatroom has been great fun over the past 4 years I would hate to see it become tainted with petty childish behaviour.

Because of the above incidents, I have now made the chatroom a 'Moderated' chatroom !
What does this mean.
To be able to speak in the chatroom, you will need to be 'voiced' by a Moderator. If you are 'voiced', you will see the '+' sign before your username.
You may find that if you join chat and there are no Moderators around, then you may not be able to speak until one arrives.

Its a shame in the 4 years of the site that we have had to take such action.

It is a Shame that it should come to this. Might be useful to appoint some other Chat Mods to ensure that Chat traffic can flow through, as Nosce always seems to be passed out in front of his PC :wink:

The Chatroom is a sacred place - maybe the spoilers should just be banned either for a fixed period or permanently for repeatedly going beyond the bounds or reasonableness.

Just as long as there is no Evil-mode rubbish... whatever that was on TLA.

As long as you get no complaints. We all know each other and when theres only 2 or 3 of us there, you know sarcasm will be laughed at, just be aware of who is in the room, if you are unsure, dont chance it !

It is a shame indeed it should come to this. I have only recently in the last couple of months started visiting the chatroom but every time I do, I have a great amount of fun chatting to the other members

. Still, let's hope this sorts it all out for good!

This is strange .. I am the only one currently online, not "voiced" by a mod and I can send messages .. a flaw in the plan? :wink:

Tlking to yourself Sean is the first sign of madness. No flaw, the room is moderated when a Moderator is in the room, hence the part acout copying & Pasting or saving any logs when there is not one about. If you are 'not' voiced when a Moderator 'is' in the room, you will be unable to speak.

Right, I thought that we always needed to be voiced, but that would nearly shut all of us chatters up :wink:

Yeh I always seem to see Temet in there, he's permanently modding the chatroom, which is good for us but probably not so good for him. Is he chained to his PC or something?

I've had great fun in there, listening to all you sarcastic scoundrels! I haven't had any bother as of yet, and I really hope the chatroom continues. Long live the chatroom!
