I have been looking at some of the amazing WIPs and I saw a couple of that had small leaves on some of the bases. Does anyone know a place where I can order these online? I think they would be a fantastic addition to the bases of my Wood Elves!!! I am not sure if this will matter thanks to the glorious internet, but I am in the US. Thanks and happy hobbying! |

Try experimenting with various dried herbs on spare bases, use white PVA glue to apply and dilute PVA to seal, then paint over as required. It's amazing how nature itself can often help you out. The PVA sealing is the key I think as it make it solid and gives a good key for further painting. Make sure it dries fully before going any further. |

I use oregano leaves a lot, and sort of like it. I glue them down with pva and then paint them. |

I do the same as MacGothmog, if you want different coloured leaves, put them in a little container and add some devlan mud or ogryn flesh! Cheap oregano doesn't smell, so raid the poundshop |

Birch tree seeds. Go outside and check them out. You'd have to seal them, but they look great. |

The above ideas are great. I use spent tea leaves. Many herbal blends have a variety of leaves. You can keep them whole or crush them up. I just dry them out before using. Also, used coffee grounds is great for dirt or gravel. Of course, you need to like drinking tea and coffee... |

Google Eduard, they make thin metal leaves prepainted, called photoetech. Cheapish and look good. Also models railway shops |

Make sure it dries fully before going any further. I did exactly this for my rank and file because I didn't want to spend a small fortune on them. Then for Hero's I grabbed some of my mums decorative hole punches from her scrap booking and used them to fashion some more fancy leaves out of transparent plastic, it holds a crease well enough to do a little embossing with a dead pen. |
