I was wondering with what else than insulant i could mold a gameboard? I though of cork tiling but those are expensive stuff. |

It's best to start off with a game board that is flat. That way, you can put separate terrain pieces on it and move them around as much as you like. So, you could use a piece of MDF (medium density fibreboard) and cover the surface of it with flock and sand. It's the cheapest and actually the best way to do it. Once you have a basic gaming table done, you can then start to add modular terrain pieces - trees, hills, rocky outcrops, ruins, etc. And eventually you'll get a pretty decent collection of modules and can recreate pretty much any battlefield you want. |

Agreed. I'm building one now myself, and you don't need a mold or anything - just some mdf for a base, some styrofoam glued onto that, and then carve the terrain that you desire from that. Even better, you could make them 1'x1' tiles, so that they're A) modular, making for a varied gaming board, and B) easier to store. |
