Yes folks - the end is in sight for me. My castle project is reaching the final stages and I have already dug out my Bag End pieces with a view to finishing that model off.

In seven weeks time I will have delivered the castle and be free again. Free I tells ya!!! Freeeeeee!!!

I simply cannot wait to see more of your Bag End, Alan. The Bag End Build-off thread is one of my favorites. Truly inspiring work. 8)

:D :-D That was a great thread I look forward to some progress on the ol' bag end. Some pics of the completed castle would also be nice. 8)

I'll take some shots of the castle and grounds this weekend and post them in the non-LOTR forum.

Sadly, with the Bag End model there'll be no friendly rivalry between me and Brian any more since his version was accidentally damaged beyond repair. Anyone else want to take up the challenge?

That looks awesome!
Can you use the castle with lotr miniatures?

Well, the scale of the castle is close enough (it's for 28mm figures instead of 25mm like LOTR uses) so technically, yeah I coult. But the architecture is completely different to anything in Middle-earth, so it's not really suitable.

Having said that, the castle itself is removeable, so I could replace it with a model of, say Cirith Ungol or Dol Guldur and it'd work nicely.

What? To be He Whose Name We Do Not Speak's new Rival-in-Waiting? Err... no. And I am up to my eyeses in other things of a constructional nature, though much more basic than the gems you two turn out. From what I have seen among some of our more recent arrivals, there is considerable terrain and painting talent. Come on guys - give it a whirl!

It is a pity about Brian's piece - it was looking very promising, and we all know what he can do (Moria etcetera).

I shall just tease him occasionally with The B a z o o k a, while watching this masterpiece develop.

PS - if you are wondering about the edits, my hands are acting on their own recognisence tonight... grammar and spelling not aligned with the approved English

I have quite a few miniatures to paint right now, however I'm somewhat in between terrain projects at the moment. I have a Mordor board planned which I would like to write an article on, so perhaps building Bag-End to the best of my abilities would be a good start to get me back in the swing of terrain building again. I'll have to see if I'll have the funds to buy the resources I need to build it, but I think I'd reall enjoy giving it a shot Alan! As I said, I just need to make sure I have the money for it. Should be able to figure that out soon enough.

Cool, just remember Longbottom Leaf, no neon signs above the door ok - living in Las Vegas might give you some strange ideas about what the world looks like.

There go my plans for a 'Welcome to Fabulous Hobbition' sign then.

I should be able to build it, though due to money, time and talent mine won't be nearly as large or ambitious as either your's or Brian's. Mine should be more similar in scale to Brian's A Meeting of Old Friends diorama, and Bart's rendition of Sam and Rosie's hobbit hole, both of which I'm drawing inspiration from.

Still, I'll give it my absolute best and hope to construct a great piece of terrain. :)

Even though I have a headstart on you I'm giving you six or so weeks to catch up. I don't expect to do anything on my Bag End until the end of May.

I don't expect to get started for another two weeks or so either, so I'm in no hurry. I'm starting my planning for my diorama already though, hopefully it turns out well. I know I'm going to try my very best! 8)

No worries Josh. I'm quite looking forward to getting back into LOTR - I even watched the Fellowship yesterday with my youngest son.
