Post subject: | The Tower of Orthanc |
After a recent re-reading of the Two Towers, I notice the description of the Tower of Orthanc included a reference to its height, being 500 feet to the top where a person may stand a view the stars... So with a stated height, we can build a scale model. If we assume a 1" tall model represents a 6 foot tall man, then our 500 foot tall tower, would be represented by a model tower, approx 83 inches tall. Anyone brave (or mad enough) to attempt this?? Would this be a worthy challenge for lotrscenerybuilder??? It has got me wondering more about Barad Dur. Anyone noticed if there is a stated height for this tower in any of the books...? Well if you look at lotrscenerybuilder's WIP, he estimates it at being about 45½feet in GW scale. http://www.one-ring.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16016&start=40 |

I believe, Adrian's already built a version of Orthanc. You'd have to check his site to be sure though. |
