If one were to have received every issue of BGiME, how many models would it be? I assume a decent army for each faction right?

Most common heroes and plastic warriors. But you will miss all elite units, monsters and "special" heroes. But it is a very good start at least :-).

You should have an entire Fellowship; a decent foot and mounted Rohan army with a good selection of named heroes from the films (you will need to convert banners, however); a nice uruk-hai army with sappers and a berserker (also needs banners); a nice inclusive Mordor army with warg riders and orcs and named heroes (I think this one does have a banner); and a nice Gondor core army with warriors and plenty of named heroes (nothing mounted, no rangers and nothing from the fiefdoms).

The other armies that make enough of a showing to probably make a warband or allies for the major armies are: Harad (you do get an assassin!);Moria goblins (the increasingly expensive Moria goblin king included); Numenor with their kings; and high Elves, led by Gil-Galad and Elrond. Unfortunately, dwarves have only a few models, probably because they weren't yet available in plastic.

Mostly the magazine centers on the film armies and heroes with battles to replicate your favorite scenes. You should have enough to play some decent games, especially if allies are used. Basically, figure out what armies you like the most and get things like Knights of Dol Amroth for your included Prince Imrahil to lead and watchers of Karna, etc.
