Greetings, Everyone.

Although I have not abandoned my Thorin's Company project (and I hope to have much more completed by the end of this month), I have decided to enter Red Corsair's Tale of X Gamers Challenge, which begins in November. I've been a fan of the concept since the first Tale of 4 Gamers graced the pages of the White Dwarf, years ago. When I thought about which army I'd like to tackle, the three armies that I have collected but never gotten around to painting were High Elves, Easterlings, and Gondor.

I decided to go with High Elves, because it gives me a chance to include both LotR and Hobbit miniatures, and I've got most of the models already on hand, so purchases can be spaced out to fit my hobby budget. Like my other Project Log, I'll start with a list of my intended collection, and it's current status, and then the thread will be updated as I go.

I will be doing a combined Eregion & Rivendell/Elrond's Household army, as thematically it works, and I believe at some point we will end up with a combined army list.

Eregion & Rivendell
  • Elrond in Heavy Armor -- Unassembled
  • Gil-galad in Heavy Armor -- Unassembled
  • Erestor -- Unassembled
  • Cirdan -- Unassembled (I will include a warband of Warriors painted in a Grey Havens scheme to serve as his bodyguard)
  • Elladan & Elrohir in Heavy Armor (foot & mounted) -- Unassembled
  • Arwen (foot & mounted) -- Need to purchase
  • Glorfindel, Lord of the West (foot & mounted) -- Unassembled (I will convert a mounted model)
  • Stormcaller -- Unassembled
  • High Elf Captain in Heavy Armor, with Elven Blade & Shield -- Unassembled
  • High Elf Warrior with Banner
  • High Elf Warrior with Elven Blade x16 -- Unassembled,
  • High Elf Warrior with Elf Bow x16 -- Unassembled
  • High Elf Warrior with Shield & Spear x16 -- Unassembled, Need to purchase 4 more

Elrond's Household
  • Elrond (foot & mounted) -- Need to purchase
  • Lindir (foot & mounted) -- Need to purchase (I will convert the mounted model)
  • Rivendell Knight Captain with Shield -- Need to Purchase
  • Rivendell Knight with Banner -- Need to Purchase
  • Rivendell Knight with War Horn -- Need to Purchase
  • Rivendell Knights with Shield x7 -- Need to Purchase

Well, that about covers everything. So, this is what I'm planning on painting/collecting over the next year, so wish me luck!

I've already spent some money (snagged 4x sprues of Last Alliance Warriors on eBay for a song), and the challenge hasn't even started!

I've been playing around with a painting schedule, and here's what I've come up with:

November -- The Core -- 12x Warriors with Elven Blades
December -- Command -- Captain, Bannerman, Stormcaller
January -- The Core -- 12x Warriors with Elf Bows
February -- The Progeny -- Arwen and her brothers (foot & mounted)
March -- The Core -- 12x Warriors with Shield & Spear
April -- The Big Men -- Elrond (foot & mounted), Elrond & Gil-galad in Heavy Armor
May -- Knights of Rivendell, Part 1 -- 4x Knights
June -- The Counsellors -- Erestor, Glorfindel (foot & mounted), Lindir (foot & mounted)
July -- Knights of Rivendell, Part 2 -- Captain, Bannerman, Musician
August -- Defenders of the Grey Havens -- Cirdan, Captain & 12x Warriors
September -- Knights of Rivendell, Part 3 -- 3x Knights
October -- Catch-up Month or Terrain piece (if on schedule)
