I've played a bunch of games lately, struggling to make the most of him.

Do you think he's worth his points, if not what would you replace him with ?

I think he is great to toss in combat. Have not used him much, but can counter heroic strike well. However, I much prefer to use Gorbag due to his cost. Despite this, when playing a man-army you get nice buffs... So the new rules buffed him.

Gothmog on a warg is a bit of a beast. He has good rules, lord of battle is gangsta and the guy is pretty cost effective. Safe as a house with his stand fast as well with 3W to burn.

He's been ok in my recent games but for his points he hasnt made a massive impact, I've been toying with replacing him with Shagrat to save a few points

Shaggy boi and mog dog have very different army roles though. Mog dog is a leader Easily good enough to beat up opposing captains, but not a combat lord. His value is in c5 3 will, master of battle and his bonus rules.

Shaggy boi is just a beater. Many people seem to play both in an army, with Mog as general, Shaggy as a killa, then a flex slot. You can play a taskmaster or captain to keep things cheap, or go with some magic or even a big ole great beast.

This is the response I was expecting when I saw the most recent commentor's name... And you are also correct.
