Post subject: | Lake Town Question |
So the lake town militia has been out for some time now. What is the consensus? Are they a good horde army? A fluff army? An ally and not a stand alone army? Can I get a small review please? I would like to buy some but not before I know what I'm getting into. |

They are absolutely a good army! In fact, the Militia is what makes them good. They are a bit wierd since they require your weaker troops to be in the front since they hit harder. The Militia provide Axes for high damage, and take a shield for better defense. Then you throw either more spear militia in, or use Laketown Guard as spears to boost fight values. And this army NEEDS Bard, Savior of laketown. His Banner Bonus cant be stressed enough. Also recommend bringing lots of bows if you can. And Bring Alfrid....because you should and its fluffy rather than annoying in this list lol This army is surprisingly effective, and with enough support from white council members or other hard hitting heroes, it can be very competitive |

That's what I did with Lake-Town guard. I used Warriors of Dale and removed the shields. They look almost identical, with the exception that they have a point on their helmet and a cape. The former is easily fixed and the latter just looks good. Some of the militia have the same look as the Guards, so you can proxy at least a few, and you can even use their shields. If anyone can find a reasonably priced alternative to the militia, that actually looks really good, let me know. |

I was thinking i would buy a few boxes of the warriors of dale then use their shields/sword arms for the lake town militia. I liked in the film that the lake towners took all the abandoned dale weapons, and I was then diappointed when gw released warriors carrying make shift weapons |

Yeah guys these models are stupidly expensive. Childish to put out models that cost 3 for $25 from a horde army..... Anyway, I have a lot of stuff in a list somewhere I wanted to proxy. If I find it I will post back here. |

I have plenty of shields, so I can just slap some of them on whatever villagers I find to proxy. I think the Perry's have some good ones, but shipping is a bit much on them. |
