"No tomb for Denethor and Faramir. No long, slow sleep of death embalmed. We shall burn, like the heathen kings of old. Bring wood and oil." Join Matt, Kylie and David as they explain the role both thematically and in-game of Denethor II, son of Ecthelion II, last of the ruling stewards of Gondor. Then listen on, as Matt and Kylie return with Jeremy for a bonus Know Thine Scenario, The Pyre of Denethor! https://soundcloud.com/the-green-dragon ... 5-denethor |

Probably I misheard, but did someone really considers taking Denethor as General? No offence guys, but I see that as a horribile, horribile idea. 2 wounds, no fate, D5? Those are 3 victory points you'd just give away. Denethor is still a good fighter, and even if he can do some damage to his own troops, nobody will pass the chance to get those points. |

All of us considered it a feasible idea, for numerous reasons we laid out. The key point to remember is going all-out to protect a cheap hero is a much better strategy than doing the same for an expensive one, which you will want to risk more with to gain an advantage from them. He is just defensive enough that it can be pulled off (compared to say, Beregond or Damrod). I (Matt) have run him as my leader at a couple of tournaments without losing him. Admittedly, he is probably not the best choice. But we love the unexpected (as well as theme!) here on the Green Dragon. |
