Hello One Ringers,

With the soon to be final movie of the Hobbit trilogy coming out this winter and the fear that the hobby will decline in interest my friend and I have been working on assembling a Fourth Age Supplement for battles set a few years after King Elessar's passing.

We want to create profiles for the new Kings, Princes & Captains of the realms of Men as well as introduce some new units to inspire conversions and provide a framework for players to become invested in Middle Earth again.

Our goal is to create this as a piece of content for other users of this incredible site to use to continue to inspire interest in the hobby.

We have the project about 50% completed and we are continuing to strive to develop new content. I wanted to post here to ask fellow One Ringers for any thoughts, opinions, characters, etc., that you believe should be included.

So far we have included the following factions with new units and heros:

Good
Reunited Kingdom
Rohan
Dale
Beornings/Woodsmen

Evil
Rhun/Khand
Harad
Orc Clans

We would greatly appreciate any feedback or ideas that all of you may have.

Cheers!

I think The Legions of Middle Earth had a fourth age list for Gondor and Rohan if you haven't looked at that already I'd recommend you do. I think they had Dunlandings as part of the Rohan list and something about Faramir's White Company but that's about all I can remember. Looking forward to seeing this expansion, and perhaps a fiefdoms one eh.

I would love to see that! Where can I find this at?

White Company are in. Dunlendings as part of Rohan, probably not. We are trying out other options.

I'm still on the fence about including Fiefdoms as a separate list or including them in the 'Reunited Kingdom' list...

Where did all the dwarves go? I know they didn't jump on ships to sail away, so why no dwarves? (the faction with currently the most model selections).

It sounds like an interesting undertaking. Since Middle earth becomes more like real earth as the years pass without the elves and magic, I would say you have a wealth of openings to use historic miniatures and make new troop types. So many people go back to first age and second age so this is a different route to go.

I considered adding Dwarves as well. Just haven't got around to them yet. :)

My concern is adding enough variety for the Evil factions to compete with the variety that the Good forces can field.

A similar (but not identical) Fourth Age project was completed by members of this site several years ago following the release of RotK. Called "The Age of the King," it is mostly set during the rule of Aragorn. Maybe that project will give you some inspiration.

I have seen that supplement before and have definitely used it for inspiration. I will give it another look and see if I can incorporate something we might have missed.

I'm not sure what to say, as I don't know of any fourth age battles, so do you mean to say that you want us to make them up or that you are just re-organising the profiles as they would be in the 4th age.

We are doing a combination of creating new units and trying to keep old ones for all of the factions that we hope to include in this supplement.

I should have the first Faction 'preview' up sometime this weekend. Be ready for the rise of the East!
