I got EFGT this week, and I was looking at the profiles when suddenly: Dori the dwarf, 55 points three attacks. is this a typo? Or is Dori just incredibly overpowered? |

He's not overpowered but he's certainly not representative of the character we see in the film. This is another unfortunate consequence of writing the rules based on an unfinished script, I guess Dori was originally meant to be a bit more of a powerhouse but that doesn't come across in the first film. HIs special rule is similarly confusing, there doesn't seem to be a particuarly strong bond between he and Bilbo during the first movie that would justify that rule. Who knows, maybe in the first half of DOS (which was meant to be in AUJ when the rules were written) Dori becomes a combat monster who loves Bilbo! He's certainly awesome in a Thorin's Company list though, he would be the 5th dwarf out of the 13 I would take! |

I think his special rule is based off that one scene in the book (out of the frying pan, into the fire) where Dori jumps out of tree to help Bilbo climb up, at the risk of his life. |

Dori was an incredibly powerful dwarf in the book. He was the strongest of Thorin's company in the book and that's why he was to carry Bilbo around. Maybe this was a rule representing his relationship before the films became three rather than two. |

I don't think Dori is overpowered at all. He needed some advantage over the other Dwarves, given that his Special Rule is not necessarily all that useful. However, had GW written the rules after seeing the film rather than before, then his rules, as well as the rules of many other characters (such as Balin, who is hideously underpowered in my opinion), would have been different. |
