Withing a few weeks I'll be playing against a friend of mine who plays gobbo's. I've just started with the easterlings, and I realy want to know what to use. As far as I know he uses 3x12 gobbo's, led by the 2 new goblin heroes and a captain with a bow, a cave trol, and others, so, what should I do to counter that one? |

Shoot at the Troll and the heroes (and Dweller if he has one), Groblug is an easy shot as are Monsters but you'd need to volley to get Ashrak. Groblug is easily defeated in combat. Use a pike block that is protected at both flanks as he would be relyin on getting more D6 into each fight and this would prevent that. Use cavalry to iuntflank him as they have double his move, if possible get a mtd Dragon Knight in to take out what needs taking out and is hoding behind his lines. |

Realy happy to hear I should use some cavalry, as I mostly use cavalry in battles, and as you may have seen, I already have the dragon knight |

I use Easterlings, and your heroes are much better than moria; use cavalry is all I can really say. You might wanna consider allying Khand, with a chieftain in chariot and some riders. |

No, don't put a Cheftian in a Chariot against Moria, use a horse instead as Moria's only cavalry is Warg Marauders, so it probably wouldn't do you any good. |

No Wargs, no Spiders, no Warg Riders? What the bloody heck?!? Sorry, this is just a little bit shocking to me. |

In SBG, Wild Wargs and Spiders are not cavalry. And Warg Riders are not part of the Moria list, only Warg Marauders who are costly and not likely to be fielded in a decent number until 750pts. |

What about allying in some mahud raiders, as they wound on a 4+ by only charging the gobbo's. |

Mahud Raiders are still pretty good value, though probably too costly to have a decent quantity at 500pts unless the list is made around them. And bne careful with their low defence. |

Ah, the points and the low defence won't be a problem, who should lead them? |

A Mahud King/Tribe Master or Suladan. |

And the kathaprakt, do they still work well, and if yes, shoul youkeep them 'just the way they are', or should you change them into blck dragons? |

Post subject: | Re: Easterlings vs Goblins: the big questions |
Kataphrakts need to be in high numbers for them to pack enough punch; they survive well enough, but if there isn't a lot of them they don't do much. |

If you have 1o led by a suitable hero at a suitable pts you should be ok with them. |

Do NOT upgrade to Black Dragons against goblins. You already have higher fight, so it would just be a waste of points. |

Okay, think I'll going to use round 8 mahud raiders, some black numenors, some Abrakan, some Watchers, and the dragon knight(the only remaining easterling part in the army:P), oh, and easterling pikemen/serpent guards for spears |

The DK can't lead the Easterlings, so you'll need another Easterling hero. |

Don't use Serpent Guards as spear support, big waste. They're for using at the front when facing a fight 3 army. Use Easterling pikemen with shields, or Haradrim with spears and bows. |
