So what do you think of these warriors?Should they be used in the first line of the battle where they can reach 5 attacks with fight 5 to win the combat and 4 strength 3 attacks to wound or in the back where they have bow elven cloak and 3 songs?

Possble for both... They can be between... So until they recah fight maybe singing is the best idea... Just keep them alive...

If you put them in the front line they can be easily shot, despite the cloak. How do you get 5 attacks?

You don't. You can get 4 max when supported by a spear then a Galadhrim Guard.

With a banner as well you'd get the equivalent of five attacks for winning the fight.

Which would be a waste considering how much banners cost. No, with sentinels, keep them in forests harrasing the enemy with bows and their songs.

Ok but 4 attacks are still very good for fight

They are often very good for teaming up with a Captain or Hero. The two together can be a very effective team.

Despite the Cloak they are still going to be a primary target (at least once your opponent gets a taste of how easily they can manipulate trolls and other low-Courage forces) and with D3 they aren't going to be lasting long. I speak from lots of WE experience. I use a minimum of 1, often 2 at 500 and above. I can keep them useful and alive for most of the game but they often become popular targets before the game is over and have a pretty high mortality rate.

They tend to die on turn one or two with volley fire.

Thats the thing, with volley fire you only have to see any one model, once he has been determined any model, seen or unseen, can be 'accidently' hit if within 6". The only way to keep a Sentinal safe is to have no other model within 6" and out of sight.

and if there are other models you can make them targets instead of the sentinel

Well, you are not going to pick your own Sentinal, but your opponant will.

you choose the model that is going to be hit, not the opponent

No, you choose the target of their first hit, them the second, you the third and so on. Of course, needing 6es to hit means that it will rarely go past 2 or 3 hits. They may get lucky though...

Yes, that is what i mean.So with many models around it becomes very difficult for the sentinel to be hit if you try to hit everything else except him.

But your opponent, if they are smart, will target the Sentinel with each arrow they get. Considering a 4 or 5 kills him, volley fire can do the trick admirably.

Don't understand. The shooter only needs to get 2 hits to hit the Sentinal. Opponant chooses the first and shooter the second. You can only allocate 1 hit on him per volley.
