Post subject: | SBG Game Variation |
I don't know if anyone here plays World of Warcraft, but I was in one of the battlegrounds and was inspired to create a SBG variation where there are several key resource locations on the map (i.e. Blacksmith, Stables, Granary, Lumbermill, etc). Each turn, you would get a certain number of resource points based on how many resource locations you controlled. You could then use these points to buy more troops and upgrade your heroes. Here is my rough draft. 1. Each side gets 3 captains of their race. 2. Along with these captains you get 100 points to upgrade them. 3. Each player brings a 700 point army, as they accumulate resource points, players can expand this to a maximum of 2000 points. 4. Neither force may contain more than 200 models.* 5. To control a resource you must have 3 models within 3 inches of the location. 6. Each side starts with a Supply Line which provides 20 resource points per turn. 7. Depending on how many resource points you include in your map, you will need to set a point accumulation for each turn. (I suggest 10 points per resource per turn) 8. Game continues until one side controls all the resources or half the resources and their opponent's supply line. *Goblins and Hobbits max are 300 models. Upgrades for captains are as follows: +1M/W/F = 5 points each (Max of 12 points divvied between all three) +1 F/S, S, D, or C = 5 points each (S and D can only be increased once) +1 A or W = 10 points each (Can only be increased twice) Skills: 10 each (You can make up your own skills but I am including a list of mine) Skills: Expert Shot Expert Rider Rally to Me (12" Stand Fast!) Deadly Strength (No -1 penalty for 2h weapons) Bodyguard Blade Master (Re-roll one die in a fight) Heedless Determination (Re-roll all Courage Tests) Cunning Shot (Ignore the "In the way" rule for shooting) Poisoned Weapon Master of Poisons (Requires Poisoned Weapon) |

Hey there, I don't play WoW (But I do play Runescape) and I fully understand your suggestion, as I have thought of similar things in the past. I like it very much. |

Thanks! I am curious, what was your variation idea? Any oppinions on how to improve my idea are most welcome. I still have yet to try it out for lack of a large enough board and suitable terrain. |
