Ok so i've been out of the hobby a bit, i plan on getting the Hobbit starter and either the hobbit big book or some of the new lotr sourcebooks, what is overpowered in the hobbit sbg? Is the Great Goblin any good, are any of the dwarves top notch and super op? I always used to enjoy trolling my friends with 3 spider queens and saruman+outriders. I like to semi-metagame, what should i be going for? Or have the holes in the game been fixed?

EDIT: Also, is the limited edition of hobbit town worth it for £60? (I have my contacts wink wink)

Although my knowledge for the metagame is scant I know that Corsair Reavers were OP. Additionally people started using lists containing Galadhrim stormcallers and Thranduil, for Nature's Wrath.
But this was before the release of the Hobbit rules. I am not sure how will the metagame be affected after their implementation.
Maybe a more experienced member of the forum can answer you with certainty.

The Golden King is still.

Shadow Lord not so much anymore for obvious reasons.

Crossbows are much better value now compared to bows.

Outriders aren't Heroes anymore so not with them. But normal RoR have 100% bow limit.

Spider Queens are also less overpowered, the cost more than an Isengard Troll,

Monster sin general are much better with their Brutal Power Attacks, so a few heap ones would be great.

The Great Goblin is great, but I wouldn't say OP. He has a (literally) power armor save, with Orcrist, Glamdring, Sting and magic being the only "power weapons". He also has +1 to wound, he's scary and he his resistant to the various magical arts. However, he's weaker than a cave troll with less defense than one too.

@Draugluin: Yup i picked up on him being pretty good, but wow look at Bifur, i have plan to create a moba style game type and he would just demolish at that. Yet again i think his skill is much more engineered towards scenarios than tactical play...
