If I wanted to get into SBG what do I need? Do I need the one ring rule book plus the new source books? Do I need anything else? Are they replacing the one ring rule book? I've never played the SBG version so just wondering what I would need. Many Thanx x

Yup, that's pretty much it: you'll need the one ring book (get mines of moria: £15 extra for the fellowship + troll/goblins) plus whatever warband book you want.

No word on whether they are planning on updating the ORB. The profiles in the new books work with the current rules, so if they offer any update at all it will probably just be mixed artwork with the Hobbit and LotR movies and little or no content change.

I would not recommend the Mines of Moria set. It only has the most common models, all of them found on EBay for pennies. Or get the set itself on EBay, if you must. The books---both the larger ORB and the smaller Mines of Moria booklet also show up on Ebay. The MoM booklet is more than adequate. This hobby has become so expensive. First, figure out which army you'd like to collect, (by asking here, or looking through the books in the store)--only then buy a sourcebook for that army. Focus on one army you can play well before expanding too much (all this assumes you have a limited budget, like the rest of us). Enjoy!

If I recall, you play or played WoTR...start off with that army. IF you're dying to trying the new system out then borrow someone's book that your army falls into. Go from there. The ORB is still the same. Also, avoid buying a new batch of mini's fresh from GW; as stated throughout the forum: The prices are way to ridiculous.

All in all: all you need is your current models, the ORB and the stats for your troops. ...throw some dice, sprinkle with some smack talking, douse with laughter and enjoy! :D
