Lances?

Are there bonuses for the lances that the Gondor Calvary get or are the treated as spears? If so do they cost a point and are they worth it?

This is a pretty easy question to answer if you have the necessary rulebooks and sourcebooks.
They don't function as spears, much better and make cavalry slightly more deadly on the charge. So to answer your questions.

Its worth noting that if you are counter charged by enemy cavalry, you still get to apply the lance bonus due to momentum!

My personal experience with mounted troops is that they need to act as a support for the main body of foot troops. I find that a couple here or there based behind the foot sloggers, so that they can tackle enemy troops that break through or are otherwise exposed and benefit from their charge bonus and lances if they have them. Massed cavalry charges are seriously prone to stalling, even with Gamling and the banner of Rohan.

Agreed, unless you're desperate, the goal of a massed cavalry charge should be annihilation, which means the enemy has already had a chunk carved away waiting for it.
