Hello all first time lotr sbg gamer here, i have 2 questions for the game..
just got my big rulebook, and is still waiting for my Kingdoms of Men sourcebook.

first thing first:
i am making a Minas Tirith army, but when i heard the alliance rules, i started to think, can i make an alliance with the dwarfs, or the elves, Potential taking an ent? or can i only use units/heroes from the Kingdoms of men book?

And second:
lets say your knights charge an orc, and win the combat, you have to move the orc back 1", and don't manage to kill it.
the next turn i win priority, can i then charge the orc again, and gain the cavalry bonus again this turn ? ..

thanks :D

As far as the allies go, yes you could have allied dwarves or elves with your men, so long as those allied warriors have a hero from their own type to lead their warband (you couldn't have Faramir leading a dwarf contingent) and each individual contingent sticks to the bow limit.
Regarding charging i believe you are correct that you could get the charge bonus again so long as you are only fighting enemies on foot. I'm pretty new to this myself though so best let someone else confirm it.

Yes, although you'd have to be pretty unlucky to fail to kill the orc in the first place...

Keep in mind that when you charge an opponant with a mounted model and win the fight, the enemy unit is not knocked back 1" but is rather knocked to the ground (usually represented by toppeling the model over to its side). If you fail to strike any wounds, then you back up 1" as the enemy is essentially "trapped". During this state a model on the ground can not inflict wounds on any other models. So when this happens and I win priority again, I usually ride on into other targets of opportunity and allow my foot soliders or weaker units to swarm the knocked down model as I have no fear of losing them for this turn and if they win the fight once again, they as well get to inflict double wounds. 8)

Not only is the the orc moved back an inch, it's also knocked over, giving your knight 4 attacks with (assuming it's a Knight of Minas Tirith) +1 to wound. Not very likely that the orc would survive. If he does, then you would get the cavalry bonus the next turn. So long as your cavalry charges infantry, they ALWAYS gain the bonus (unless they are counter charged by cavalry).
