Post subject:  Skullcrafts: A brief review.

I recently purchased some hobby supplies from Skullcrafts (a relatively new member to the One-Ring) and I simply wanted to let other members know that it was a very good experience.

James (the owner and Mr. Skullcraft himself) was a pleasure to deal with and the shiping time was very quick. He is currently specializing in basing materials and he offers a variety of kits for all seasons. The kits are extensive and include a variety of materials. The online tutorials alone are worth a visit to the website.

So if you are in the US and are looking for a good source for basing materials, check out Skullcrafts.

Cheers

Post subject:  New low prices on HA casts!

We received a huge deal on Merlins Magic casting plaster and we're passing the savings on to our customers by lowering all the prices of casts in our store. We recently added more molds to the store, including caverns and science fiction. Check some of them out below:

On the down side of all this, our basing kits had to go up slightly in price recently and so did our shipping costs...but, overall the prices are still fair considering the quality and unique products that come in them. We are now selling to store owners around Oregon, Washington, and parts of Northern California. Yay! A lot of thanks go to One Ring and all the members who have spread the word about Skullcrafts.

These look like great sets. Heres to hoping you'll soon expand to Europe (England in particular  )

Skullcrafts currently ships internationally. It may sound like a lot of money, but really my international customers are saving money against the US dollar...and have been for a while. That's just how it works out I suppose.

That's good to know (from my point of view :) )

I was browsing your site, and was very impressed with the prices of both the kits and casts, but I couldn't find any information about postage costs. Am I just being dozy or are they not listed?

We do display all shipping rates HERE.

With the recent rise in costs of fossil fuels (accross the board), shipping is going to keep getting worse. It's unfortunate, but it's the truth. This may not be a stretch, but I think a lot of small businesses will have no choice but to close shop...but that's still just a guess.

Thanks for the update on shipping costs Skullcrafts.

And yeah, I agree - the rising costs of postage will begin to make international shipping exorbitant and difficult for smaller companies to sell their goods. It's not looking good.

Here's a few examples of bases using the Skullcrafts Basing Kits:

Kinda gives you more of an idea on how truly unique my colors and blends are. There's something to be said about taking time with certain aspects of manufacturing. I never wanted to be another company selling the same old boring colors, blandness of textures, etc. Sure, my kits are more expensive than some but I stand behind mine 100%. I've been in this hobby more than 20 years and I don't use anything but the kits I sell for decorating bases. That's got to count for something doesn't it?

Well anyway, I just thought I'd share a little bit of the basics of what the kits can do. This is by no means a difinitive example of the only possibilities from the kits, but it should be enough to inspire some to come up with their own. At any rate, I love the kits I make and so does everyone I've talked to so far who've taken the plunge and bought one. Sorry for tooting my own horn here, but can you blame me?

That's exactly what this forum is for, so feel free to "toot" your hardest.

It's good to see some examples of your kits in action, it opens people's eyes to quite a range of possibilities, and these would nicely suit anyone's collection of Lord of the Rings figures (and other games too of course, but this is a LOTR site first and foremost after all).

These look great Skullcrafts. The variety of colors within each range is very natural and I can see a lot of use for them. I have been looking for some realistic-looking forest scatter for quite a while and these seem to fit the bill beautifully.
