I recently bought one of the Malifaux sets (Lady Justice). They are larger scale at 32mm and are nice casts with lots of detail. Hopefully I'll get to play the game soon as from what I have seen it's an interesting system.

Whilst I'm here I have a few others:

I've been working on my finecast Logan Grimnar this week. For all of the problems with the cast the miniature has been a lot of fun to paint and one major plus point is how well the paint adheres.

Very nice work, the pic is a little dark but it's ok. Keep up the great work on the space puppie :P

Here's the finished piece:

I couldn't get the wolf pelt the way I wanted to I've left it black so that I can return after I've had some more practice on my other space wolves.

Really fantastic stuff in this thread. The colors are well-blended and realistic. Keep it up!

Damn. Nice work. I'd be interested to know your methods for the face and hair, they came out really well.

The face and hair was a little easier on this model with it being finecast and I was able to pick out each little detail with a fine brush and steady hand. I'll try to put together a tutorial at some point.

Post subject:  Infinity wip - update 19/08/2012

I picked up some of the amazing infinity models this week.

They are proving quite the challenge to paint as they are so different to lotr models. I'm having to blend over tiny areas and maintain a clean sci-fi look without being too cartoony. But hey this is how we improve!

So I tried a few more infinity miniatures before I was finally satisfied with the result. This one has a much more cohesive appearance that I rather like.

I taken a break from middle earth to paint my sedition wars figures. The strain models are really nice models and are loads of fun to paint. The vanguard are trickier for me - I've never been keen on power armour models and it's taken me many attempts to get them to a decent level. These are all test models with loads more stil to paint.

Here's a quandary. These figures are great and your painting, well it's becoming incredible.
The thing is, are you painting these better than LoTR or are they better sculpts that show off your talents better than LoTR would.
The third figure is the stand out piece.

I know what you mean and it was something I considered at the time. however there are other factors involved here. first once the remainder of the kickstarter models are released I'll have close to 100 models for $100. With so many cheap models I can try out different techniques without worrying too much about the results. I've also found they can be stripped quite easily. compare this to say the fine cast white council. with these I know that if I make a mistake I have ruined an expensive model and so I've been very conservative with my approach. also I am outside my comfort zone with the strain unlike anything I have painted before and have to think a lot more about what I'm doing.

hopefully in the long term I'll be confident enough to apply the techniques I've used here on my LOTR figures.
