Hello all! With my first playtest campaign of my Shadow of the Dog Lord Roleplaying Game coming quickly to its close and players almost begging me to run a second after that, I got to thinking about how combat worked in the game. Oh the system was great and all, but some players had a nasty habit of metagame thinking, trying to shoot enemies that were beyond their range or not in their line of sight. So I started using miniatures to help, a mix of Lord of the Rings and D&D models to be exact. Anyway, I decided that while the LotR models are great, I'd prefer to have miniatures able to represent the actual character from The Shadow of the Dog Lord. So today I began playing around with some bitz I had laying around and made this (please pardon him, he's still just undercoated): He has, for you perceptive gamers, a base from a plastic LotR Army of the Dead, with his tail from a Warhammer 40K Space Wolf set. He also has part of a 40K wolf skull glued to the front of his helmet over a small green stuff snout. This is because this lad, representing one of Fenrir's soldiers in the country of Dar-Koldor, wears a helmet with a face mask depicting their Lord (the concept art is below): Now I have 9 more plastic Army of the Dead, all of whom will be converted into soldiers of Dar-Koldor, then I plan on buying another box (or two) and doing the same for them, maybe even a banner bearer or two. After I have those guys done, I have my eyes set on some models from the Assault Group as soldiers from the western nation of Tar-Koldor, who have a Spanish design to their armor. Let me know what y'all think. I'll be posting more WIP shots when I get them Cheers, Wolfy |

Thanks mate! I have a trip to the game store to get more wolf skull bits (I only have a couple more left), but once I get those I'll have amassed a legion (in SBG terms at least ) of these lads. On a related note, I also have this nice mini I recently procured: I'll be wanting to get a cast of him in resin so I can use his head and copy that in resin to have 25mm sized anthro wolf heads to put on figures. He's named Mansur, a model for the Ironclaw roleplaying game, sculpted by a company called Excelsior Entertainment. If anyone has one or more of him (or any anthropomorphic canine miniature in 25-28mm scale) I'd be very interested in trading for them Cheers, Wolfy |

Got a bit further in my converting and painting. Now I have three Soldiers of Dar-Koldor converted. They're a bt dark, but that's the way they should be, so: Then I have the finished Mansur model: And a picture showing them all together with some nice new bits of terrain I've been working on: Now that those are done, I've got to finish my Tale of 9 Gamers quota for the month. Cheers all, Wolfy |
